Certified copies UK passport

I believe I understand that instead of him sending his actual passport to me for my fiancee' visa he can send a certified copy. Does anyone have more information about this (ie., where can he get a certified copy made? Approx. cost?)

My fiance will be in the US in a few days and I'm thinking of asking my bank to make notarized copies of each page - will this be acceptable?

I think in the UK they have a special type of solicitor that certifies a copy of each page, hopefully someone else on here will have a more complete answer for you.

In the UK any solicitor can make a certified copies.
