taebo buddies?
« on: February 12, 2004, 03:41:51 AM »
Hiya~

I've been on a health kick with my roomies this semester, and i have to say i'm doing really well...so far. ;)  I bought the taebo tapes years ago and do them off and on, along with other workouts.  we're making it a point to workout with the tapes several times a week (4-5 times) and doing pilates as well.

In addition to working out, we're eating better (as well as you can in a uni cafeteria...lol).  No fried foods, etc.  i usually make it a point to workout, and have lost 35 pounds since my freshman year of college.  last semester i had a HORRIBLE case of mono, which nixed any plans of working out...heck getting showered was a success for me.

Anyways, if anyone was to be part of a little taebo or workout support group...i'm game.  just thought i'd throw it out there and see if anyone else was interested.  i know it's A LOT easier for me to stay on track when others are there doing it right along with me...otherwise i tend to sit on my lazy butt. [smiley=bootyshake.gif] ;D

Good job Krissy!
I have slacked BIG time. Going back to the gym Monday. I am going to take measurements so I can see my results! I HATE scales - they depress me. Measuring is a more positive way (for Me) to see the results.
I'm all for cheerleading - any other takers?

I am terribly out of shape since I came back from my year in England (I gained 20 pounds in that year and cant manage to get rid of it!) and don't have much time to do outdoor workouts.  I would LOVE to get it on with some workout tapes, but I have never used any tapes.

Any recommendations?  I just don't even know where to begin...

Well I have purchased quite a few tapes, and haven't been pleased with too many of them.  Personally, I find the taebo tapes the only ones I can use consistently and not get tired with them.  I have the Taebo live 4 pack of tapes, but they have come out with a bunch more since I purchased those.  So, you might want to look at the numerous new ones he put out.  The new 2004 Taebo tapes look fantastic, but I think I might wait to buy them on DVDs to use in the UK.  My roomie from last year just bought the Firm set of DVDs and loves those.

Pilates is also a lot of fun, and you don't really need any equipment.  I tend to favor tapes that are upbeat, easy to use, and fun.  I can't stand tapes that make me dread working out.  Also, I tend to stay away from tapes that require you to buy extra equipment...especially when you have to buy equipment made by the same company that produced the tapes...seems like a rip off to me.

Like I said, my friend loves The Firm tapes, but you have to buy steps and stretchy bands...not my kind of tape.  Oh, just so you know I tend to refer to the workouts as tapes, but you can get most of them on DVD as well...in fact my Pilates are on DVD.  I just am too cheap and broke to go out and replace my Taebo tapes with DVDs at the moment.  (I know, I know...I'm so far behind...hehehe).

I would recommend also getting workouts that let you grow with them.  The Taebo ones for instance came in a set with an instructional tape, beginners tape, advanced level tape, and then a short 8 minute one for on the days you have less time with.  The two Pilates DVDs I have have multiple workouts of differing levels of ability and lengths of time.  Get one that fits your needs, but get one that will last you a while.  I have so many beginners tapes sitting at my parents house that I can no longer use because they became too easy to do very soon after I started using them.

Ok, a really lengthy answer...sorry!

Nope, you just need yourself, a tv, a vcr or dvd player, a good pair of tennis shoes, and some workout clothes...hehehe  I know I'm stating the obvious...lol.  ;) Anyhow, for about $40-$50 you can get the whole 4 DVD/Tape set and get going.  Or at least that's what I paid, who knows exactly how much it costs now (a few years later). ;D

If you decide to get motivated, I'll be more than happy to cheer you on!

So sorry that I have just noticed this post! In my opinion - Beach Body work outs are FANTASTIC!
www.beachbody.com. If you want details on the different work outs (Slim in 6 or Power 90) let me know - I have done the, both and LOVE them!
