Oh cool the recipe for the stew looks really good.  I'll definitely make it this week - looks relatively easy.  But do I really need to do the whole chorizo recipe?  I'm thinking nah.....

I found regular tofu listed on Hoo Hing's website. They have a store off the North Circular and it's on the way to Ikea which I was planning on visiting soon anyway. I'll just stock up on a few. :)

Geeta~ Maybe make the whole recipe, use what you need for the stew and then eat the rest for a different meal?

Oh I meant why do all the work to make chorizo when I could just use the mince instead...the chorizo alone seems to be the biggest hassle in the recipe!

Did you guys end up with a chorizo recipe? I have one, but it calls for TVP (textured vegetable protein) and I'm not sure what the availability of that is in the UK.

i think that's soya mince, which is very easy to find here!

I did find one, but please post yours as well. It's always tweakable. :)

Done! I added it to the TexMex section the UKY cookbook.

I haven't tried the recipe yet but it's from literally the best and most consistent cookbook I've ever used.

Cool, thanks! That is slightly different than the one I found, and with easier to find ingredients too.

Looking at that recipe, I don't know where you'd find hamburger crumbles here either ...

I've seen it in the freezer section of Sainsbury.

Vegan with a Vengeance. Even though I'm just vegetarian, not vegan, I love the cookbook SO much!

all this chorizo talk I had to make some last night with eggs. I just used soya mince and a bunch of spices... chili powder, crushed chilis, whole cumin, salt, garlic and onion powder... wow, I think I got a little carried away. Ooh, but it was so nice with eggs!! next time I will plan ahead and make some tortillas to wrap it in!!
