What's your university like?
« on: January 19, 2007, 12:13:31 AM »
What's your university like? What university are you currently studying and what do you think of it? what's the best thing about it? what's not so great about it? What's the best advice would you give to anyone thinking of enrolling at your Uni?

I'm at Middlesex. Overall I give it a 6 out of 10. For Theatre , fashion , Art and business I would say it's top. Cons: The disorganization sometimes drives you nuts. Pros: hmm..accessibility of some of the placement/venues

So what's your uni like ?
But never fear, gentlemen; castration was really not the point of feminism, and we women are too busy eviscerating one another to take you on.

I'm at the University of Manchester.  I'm a second year Law LLB student with quite unusual qualifications and they took me anyway.

Likes:

Manchester
Lots of recruitment by law firms and the uni's good about getting their sponsorship
Good speakers and events
70% good lecturers
I like my seminars and they never have more than 7 people.
I've actually had really good support with financial aid and the like since I've been here.
fantastic public transport in Manchester
the library is top notch

Dislikes:

There is a bit of administrative inefficiency that can be frustrating.
Class size. (275!!)
Sometimes being spoken to like children (though some of the students behave like children)
Exams
The Academy as an exam venue!

7.8/10  My advice to anyone applying would be to come and visit.  The weather in Manchester can be pretty brutal (just like the rest of the UK) and I think it's more rainy than most.  I'm pretty isolated in the LLB section so I can't really comment on other parts, but I am really glad I chose Manchester and proud to say I'm a student there.
had a bit of a wobble.

I am at Loughborough University www.lboro.ac.uk [nofollow] and have to give it a 7 out of 10.

Pros: Great top notch engineering degree.
No major city distracting you from your studies

Cons: Exceptionally hard degree
No city to escape into to forget about studying

I'm at the University of Wolverhampton...

I'm getting my MSc in Finance & Accounting:

Lectures (3 hours long) boring sometimes 7/10
Course difficulty 8.5/10
Class size only 18...which is cool
Other students 6/10...I don't drink so I don't fit it too well.
Wolverhampton City Campus 7/10

;) For the most part its been a good experience.  I'm almost done in a couple months...back to the U.S.
