You can buy 'Bassett's Wine Gums' here, which I think are similar - http://www.cadburyschweppes.com/EN/

You can find them in most supermarkets and newsagents.

If so, I don't know if you can get them here. Never looked. But I've been meaning to ask Mom to send some!

Okay, I agree that wine gums are awful for getting stuck in your teeth, but that was all I could find when I did a quick online search!

I'm not sure I really know what gum drops are either - even after looking at the picture!

You can get fruit jellies which are similar.  They're softer than gum drops (kind of like orange slices)  and they aren't as sweet.  They will satisfy in a pinch.  I really miss gum drops.  Mmmmmm gum drops.

wine gums are not at all like gum drops.  I like them in their own right!

Did find American jelly beans in the Kosher section!  As well as swedish fish.

Has anyone ever tried American Hard Gums? I used to see those in Sainsbury's and they looked like the old familiar gum drops. Never tried them, although I do love gum drops!

I've never had gumdrops but I think maybe what you're after is Rowntree's fruit pastilles.

Those are probably the closest but they are still too chewy.

Fruit pastilles are very different as well. I haven't found anything that is exact although I saw a bag of sweets in the pound shop the other day that looked similar. I'll check tomorrow if I am out and let you know.
