I worked with a guy who used to bring in home made Cheez-itz. OMG!!! To die for!!! I hope yours turn out just as good!

OMFG they are so good!  :o  I just tasted them and words cannot express just how delicious they are.  :D

I used this recipe.  They were so easy, I think I'm just going have to make them all the time!

Did you use whole wheat flour? That practically makes them HEALTHY!  ;D Glad they were tasty! I don't have a cookie sheet (don't ask!), and that's probably a good thing for my waistline!

I did use the whole wheat flour, so it totally cancels out all the cheese and butter.  :D  And just to be a bad influence, I ran out of room on my baking sheet so I used my roasting tin as well.   ;) ;D

I made rock cakes (or rock buns, whichever you prefer to call them) tonight.  Some for DH to take on a work-related road trip in a van with 5 other blokes tomorrow, for a meeting down south near London somewhere - long day for him, poor thing - at least he'll be home by evening.  And some for me to take to work.  :)

Rock cakes were a hit - with DH & his work mates, and with my work mates.  ;D [smiley=2thumbsup.gif]

Only thing is the Hummingbird Bakery recipe said it makes 12 cupcakes, so I doubled the recipe - thinking that would give me 12 for the party & then some I could send to work with DH on Monday, plus a couple for us.  I ended up with 15 cupcakes on a double recipe!  Hmmmm - are the Hummingbird Bakery's cupcakes teensy tiny or what?!  There were just normal size cupcakes - I bought the papers for them at Morrisons, so they weren't like some kind of big American monstrosities or anything like that, by any means.  I was very glad that I doubled the recipe or I wouldn't have even ended up with a dozen.

 ???

I found the same thing, I made the green tea cupcakes and there was only enough batter for 11 cakes...how odd right?

I made a batch of my mom's butterscotch brownies for my 13 year old neighbour's birthday on Wednesday night. They reeeeeally easy to make and my neighbour LOVES them so I thought I'd give her her own batch. But a few didn't fit (what a shame) so my husband and I have been nibbling on the extras at our desks today. :)

I just wonder if they got the quantities wrong when doing the cookbook for people at home who would be making cupcakes in smaller quantities, as I imagine the bakery itself must make a large quantity of cupcakes all at once?

Either that, or their cupcakes must be tiny!

Last Monday, I made soda bread. As usually happens with my baked goods, it was too hard on the outside, not quite cooked through on the inside.

It sounds like your oven is too hot. You can buy a thermometer for your oven or just turn it down a bit. If you're using a fan oven (if you can hear it blowing), you'll need to adjust down as well. We usually figure 10% with ours.

I made carrot cake! It's still not perfect (needs more carrots) but this recipe from Nigel Slater's Tender is a good one. My DF (who prefers Nigella's venetian carrot cake) says it's the best frosting.

Nothing special, just some Betty Crocker brownies.

I made the baking bites Thin Mints again on Sunday - this time with the proper amount of butter - and they're....well, they're edible. This time they don't taste minty at all and the chocolate coating is just overwhelmingly dark. Also, with the butter added to the chocolate, they're never going to set  :( That's the last time I mess about with those.

Today I'm making bread.

Oh no! Two times would be my limit as well. Sorry they didn't turn out!

Carrot cake for my son's birthday yesterday. My mother did the frosting - lemon cream cheese.
When I was 5 years old, my mother always told me that happiness was the key to life. When I went to school, they asked me what I wanted to be when I grew up. I wrote down ‘happy’. They told me I didn’t understand the assignment, and I told them they didn’t understand life. ~ John Lennon
