It really is. A nice cup of tea and a couple of slices of toast with butter. Mmmm.
Yeah, it's a great price. The shop puts leftover bread on deep discount after the truck comes in for the week. Nothing at all wrong with the bread, other than it's pretty much at its sell-by date. Never lasts much more than a few days in our place, after that point, anyway.

I never know what's going to be on sale, and was amused earlier this week to find bread with all the crusts cut off on sale! (Now, in MY day a kid could darned well eat the crusts, too!

)
I only ran out this week because I forgot the Daughter had field trips and needed sandwiches to take, so I used it up making sandwiches. Yesterday's lunch was roast beef/cheddar/rocket on wheat sandwiches, Vlassic Kosher dill pickle spears, a packet of roasted almonds, some low-carb cookies, and hot tea. She should be sitting down to a too-carby lunch right now, but I also ran out of like baby carrots and stuff to put in the lunchbox. So she got a peanutbutter sandwich, cheddar and some crackers to go with it, a bag of sultanas, a couple of gluten-free, low carb ginger-snaps, and a big flask of hot milk tea. She'll work all the glucose off trudging around and trying to not freeze.
Poor kid, I bet she's not having a lot of fun today in the rain! Her legs were soooo sore last night. (She wore my heavy Duck boots and had to do a lot of walking. The boots insured no blisters, but they are heavy to walk in if you're not used to them!) I think I'll make a big batch of chicken Tika to have ready for us to eat when she gets home, so she can snarf, and then just put her feet up on the couch and take it easy. (Alternately, I've a crock-pot's worth of good chili frozen and could do a frito pie. Hmmmm. Tika, I think. Less carby, still nice and warming.)
They say the Gulf Stream (trans-Atlantic conveyor in the ocean) is weakening and so we may be in for more winters like this last one. I'm good with that as long as I can make chili and curry!
