I have "the folder".  I've been maintaining "the folder" for 5-1/2 years now (for the fiancee visa, all the way though my upcoming ILR).

As a result of this conversation, I've just switched a few more statements to paperless. It still seems like the wrong thing to do so it is having to happen gradually!  ;D

I'm looking forward to this task!  Each statement I switch will be a mini-celebration of being finished with the visa process.  :)

I had "the box" and that changed to "the folders" and now I'm looking for a new box. :)  And switching everything back to paper, just out of paranoia, for a while.

If I don't get to the laundry, I will ponder over a cuppa precisely what the meaning of the Meerkats off the TV commercials is, if the new little Meerkat is offspring or a nephew, and why the Meerkats are Russian?

When they first started, it was all based around Sergei, the boffin, being over-worked because too many people were searching 'Compare the Meerkats.com' instead of 'Compare the Market.com', and it was Aleksandr telling people off about it and asking them to be more careful with their googling, because it was causing exhaustion for Sergei.

I always thought Sergei was just Aleksandr's employee, but here on UKY there have been other ideas about their relationship, including one person who was sure they're a couple.  I have no idea why they are meant to be Russian, though!

If I didn't know what the weather looked like outside, I'd be jealous!

The weather was fabulous!  Warm and sunny, with just enough wind.  Mrs Jimbo took a bike ride to Rye on fields with baby lamb.  I spent 3 hours in the kite buggy.

Because "Meerkat" sounds like "Market" if you say it with a Russian accent.

JFKimberley, the car is packed that way because the kite buggy is sandy and will be wet at the end. The top rack isn't made for a bike.

Good Friday, people!  (Oh, er... not that Good Friday, whose name always confused me, because I imagine it wasn't very good for anybody involved...)

1. Since my husband started the new job and is now home every night, we've been going to bed by about 10pm, like normal people do.  This means I've been waking up around 7 or 8am without an alarm clock!  This is the best "sleep hygiene" I've ever had in my life, and it feels painless.  How am I even doing this?!

2. Sunshine!!!  That is all.

3.  Last night I made stuffed peppers in the slow cooker, using the filling recipe that my family ate just as a dinner for most of my childhood.  My siblings and I call the filling/childhood dinner "hambooger rice dish" because we never grew up.  This was only the second time I've made hambooger rice dish since coming over here for the long "visit" in 2012... the first time didn't go well because passata is not the same as American tomato sauce, and my husband was skeptical to being begin with and hovering and, and, blah blah blah kitchen disappointment.  But yesterday, I managed to control the spicing and it was my childhood meal, again, and it was so good I almost cried.  My husband liked it because I put it in giant peppers and roasted them in the slow cooker, so he got the veg he's always craving.  He said it wasn't a meal to rave about, but it was nice and he'd eat it again.  He wants more spice in the filling next time.

4.  I bought ice cream cones because SUNSHINE!

5.  Two weeks and four days 'til ILR!!  I need to revive my thread and make sure my checklist has everything on it that it should have so we can be sure to get it all sorted.  And I need to check that the printer has ink in case I need to order some.  I got a ream of printer paper yesterday, so I'm ready to print the application and make copies.  YAY!  We're almost done!

1.  I hope we have decent weather for the weekend.  Lots of fun outside stuff to do!

2.  I'm touring one of our warehouses this morning.  I wonder if I'll get to take any goodies home?   ;)

3.  I'm going shopping this weekend for a few new bits of clothes FOR ME!  It's been years since I've bought anything for me.  I'm not pleased at the sizes I'll need to buy but hoping to get a pair of capris for the warmer weather, t-shirts, and a cute top or two for work on warmer days.  I won the grand national sweepstakes at work and I'm going to go wild in Primark with my £40.

4.  Less than a month to the big 40th birthday holiday away!

5.  Work is going to draaaaggggggg today.  Like it has done every other day this week.  I wanna be outsiiiiiiiiiiiiide!!!

Our forecast is typical weekend weather.  That's been one of the frustrating things about my husband only being home at the weekend for all that time: I'd have some really nice dry, sunny days during the week while he was gone, but then when he was home at the weekend it'd be rainy and grey and depressing.  But now he's home every day, so yay!  Still... we have rain forecast for this weekend.  And clouds all day Sunday.

Did you decide on a 40th gift idea, apart from the trip?  I still don't know what I'm doing for my husband's in June.  Ideally, I want to make something for him, but I don't know what... I'm going to try something in the workshop.  I'll need a backup plan if it doesn't work, though!  :P

1. I feel like a caged animal again today being inside at work while it's so lush out! I am definitely spending lunch outside!

2. If I can convince my husband to BBQ for a second day in a row, you can be damn sure I'm doing it.

3. I want to just get home and sit outside with a delicious adult beverage.

4. We get food cooked for us tomorrow as one set of in-laws are down from up north, my SIL will be staying with us for the weekend (meh), and we're going around my other in-laws for a meal to celebrate one of the nieces 17th birthday. Happy any time I don't need to cook! haha Usually involves LOTS of booze and bonus fry-up Sunday morning.

5. THIS IS THE LONGEST DAY EVER! I am SO unmotivated!
My, how time flies....

I bought 3 bottles of prosecco on the way home yesterday.  One down, two to go!   ;D

How is it Friday again, so soon!???

This time last year, as of today, I was having a semi-breakdown, because our mover flaked on us. A year ago tomorrow the wonderful guys at Sullivan Movers (courtesy of Ranier) saved our bacon! How is it that it's been a year already????????

Oh, well. It's been, I have to say, the happiest year of my life, overall.  ;D After the absolute freaking insanity of managing the move itself, its been pleasant, low-key, and entertaining. People warned me that I'd miss working. No. Not really. I miss the extra income. And I miss having something ongoing that is hypothetically "productive" to do, a bit. But the overall "worklife" thing? Nawww. Not one iota. No more office politics. No more special snowflake professors who think they are immune to regulations (and, occasionally, the law!). No more entitled students who demand what they have not earned. No more, gee, we decided to change this process for the 18th time, even though you have had to work late to get it geared up to be just what we asked for. Nope. And I really do like being able to get up when I feel like it, or be up late reading if I feel like it.  Life is GOOD!

1) It is a sea of daffodils in the sun everywhere outside. Just got back from hitching on the bus over to Great Western Retail Park for B&Q, B&M, Pets@Home, and Sainsburys.  Decided, on a whim, to have some KFC, since it was right there. The chicken was very nice. It's been at least a year since I've had a coke, though, and had forgotten how very sweet it is! Oy!

2) B&Q had cheap outdoor camp chairs on for 10 pounds each, so now I have two. There's a bench out back, in our communal garden, that looks like splinter central. So, between the two new chairs and a Navajo blanket on the bench, the Daughter can now have her friends over and sit outside with them in the sun, if she wishes. We can also now (once I source some good charcoal) take our Weber mini-kettle grill that we brought over at the last minute (space left in the shipping crate) and do some smokey BBQ, and be able to sit out there comfortably while it cooks. Just need to get a metal bucket for the ashes and am gonna fire ol' Max up. (That's it's name. Max Weber. Kinda an inside joke.) Chicken and steak. I wonder if salmon is good on a bbq?

3) Daughter has a job interview right about now. She is exhausted from her stuff yesterday, and is back doing it again today, but is schlepping over on her lunch break to interview. Not the best timing for the interview, but she's keen on that job (a good, part-time one near our place) so fingers are crossed for her.

4) Amazingly, I was able to stuff the crocheted blanket that I keep over the back of the couch into our washer and it washed (sorta) and then dried (sorta). And is now hanging out back on the line in the sun. Not enough pollen to worry about too much now, and it's the only way it's going to get properly dry, so yea! that there is sun and a slight breeze out today!

5) The cayenne peppers that have been slow to grow in my little kitchen garden have decided that it's time to ramp up. The plants are noticeably larger today than they were on Wednesday, when I last watered them. The nematodes added to the soil have almost completely eliminated the issue with those nasty little scairid flies that came in with the compost.  ;D  The cilantro has bolted, the basil is looking a little peaky, and the rocket has, well, rocketed. I didn't expect it all to grow. it did.
