Is it really Friday again!
oh, wow.
1) My cilantro has bolted. It had a long, productive life so it's time to start more. I have more rocket than I know what to do with. I really didn't expect all the seeds to grow. It appears they all did. The Cayennes have put on many more leaves and, while a bit on the dwarf side, are about to bloom. The Jalepenos are just now starting to have a growth spurt. All the peppers like a warm climate, so perhaps it's just now gotten warm enough inside the Kitchen Garden (with mylar wrap) for them to be happy. I got a Venus Fly Trap to help with extraneous flying insects in the "kitchen garden." Neat little plant. It is sitting on a lower shelf, well-shaded. Am fighting the temptation to "feed" it.
2) It is cooler out today, but appears that it's going to be on-and-off sunny. In a bit I believe I'll "get dressed" (aka, putting on out-of-the-house clothes) and have a nice walk somewhere. If I go to the gardens I must remember to take popcorn seed for the pigeons. It might be nice to sit on a bench in the sun, out in the fresh air, for a while. Note to self: it's a sea of daffodils over there. Take an antihistamine before going out.
3) We've been trying to find a way to use our two old Nokia C1-01 phones here. They are unlocked and we used them for years in the States on a number of different carriers (until our local area killed G2/G3 service). We have EE payg and their sim card is one of those multi-size ones, where you can snap out the smaller sim if you need it. Unfortunately, the C1-01 has rather clear directions in the instruction book to not use one of those - it needs to be the old standard size, one-piece sim. Neither of our C1-01s will work on the EE sim. We took them all to the EE store and the guy couldn't get it to work, either. No network signal at all. (We brought a number of phones with us, because we had 'em laying around. It works in the old Consumer Cellular flip phones just fine.) The Daughter really wants to use her old phone, but so far I'm not finding a carrier that still has those one-size old sim cards. I'm not above switching providers to make it work. Anyone know of one?
4) The Daughter brought home a huge stack of books from the library to do research in. I gotta say, it's interesting reading. (She's very tired today and is "decompressing". Looks like she's been through a war. It's been a long semester.)
5) Thor Hamsterdahl is... kinda growing a pair. Poor guy, it's that time of year. He's going stir-crazy in his cage, chewing like mad, wanting "out" to go find a girlfriend. It's sooo sad. It's like the Amok time on that old Star Trek episode. (I'm so happy Star Trek is on every day. Familiar things....) Anyway, I'm going to reconfigure his cage a little bit with several new "floors" of cardboard for him to have to run around on to look for seeds. Thankfully this doesn't last too long - I hope anyway. Our dwarf hamsters did this every year for a couple of weeks and then things would subside. Not sure it works that way for a Syrian hamster. For his little sake, I sure hope so! At least he has his wheel.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY to baby KF!
