I need to get back to strict low carb. I've been using my weird food cravings from my anaemia as an excuse to eat anything I want. Now that I'm getting my iron infusions, I can't use that as an excuse anymore. I have no excuse for the Subway cookies I ate for breakfast this morning.

1. I started my iron infusions last Wednesday.  I'm already seeing improvements but I still have a way to go to get back to 100%.

2. Sunday is Stuart's 49th birthday. We are going to Aviemore for the weekend. We are staying in a private en suite room at a hostel on Loch Insh. The weather is supposed to be shite but I'm ok with that. If you wait for good weather in Scotland you would miss out on doing so much.

3. After this weekend trip, I can only plan one day trip for July to see the puffins on the Isle of May then I'm in save more for my trip to Amsterdam at the end of July.  My daughter and her girlfriend are meeting me there for Pride week.

4. I'm trying to figure out my long term plans at Boots. We are opening a flagship store. It will be the first of three. We are being used as a test market store... testing new products, sales plans, fixtures, rotas,  integrated health care, etc. I don't know if I want to stay past this year. I've been working full time hours since my first week, on an extended temprarory 20 hour contract. I keep getting told my permanent contract is coming (still only 20 hours) but has to wait until everyone's new rotas and new departments are defined and assigned. Plus, by keeping me at 20 hours but working me full time I'm getting screwed out of vacation hours. And I'm supposed to be getting trained as a pharmacy dispenser tech. (No extra money.) But I'm not unhappy there.  I like the job and people. I don't like the money or contract nonsense. I still have time to decide.

5. I miss my kids. I hate living so far away from them. I'll be going to North Carolina for Thanksgiving.

I’ve not played this game before,so here we go

1. Kiddo woke up at 230 violently ill (again)  rang 111 who said they’d send a doctor around. Then they called and asked if we could come in instead. So we did, nearly two hours later we’re seen because said doctor had to go out again. Home at six am.  Worked from home, meanwhile kiddo is bouncing off the walls and eating like me out of the house.

2. Spoke to my mom today :)

3. Starting to get things ready for our trip Tuesday.

4. Landed an interview for a much better job at work ( downfall I have to do it first thing Tuesday morning and then go to the train station to get to the airport)

5. Got paid today

I’ve always been tested as anemic but never got any treatment for it. What do the iron infusions do for you exactly?

Also, we bought a car today. Wasn’t planned at all! My husband said we were “only” going to look. I won’t let him hear the end of it bc he’s supposedly the budget conscious one. But i’m pretty excited we’ll get to plan road trips now. Any suggestions for day trips?

I'm severely anaemic, to the point of it affecting almost every aspect of my life. 11 on my reference range is low. I was at a 3, for over a year. I've been waiting on the infusion here for 6 months.

Just a few of my symptoms... chronic exhaustion, shortness of breath, freezing cold all the time, weird food and ice cravings, leg, ankle and feet swelling, gastric problems like bloating (I sometimes swell up and look 9 months pregnant), itching skin to where I itch myself raw, thin skin to where I bruise and bleed easily.

It is a 15 minute iv treatment. They inject a high strength liquid iron into your iv. I go back on Wednesday for another treatment. Then I will be monitored from there to see if I need routine treatments.

Day trips... Isle of May to see the puffins, Rosslyn Chapel, Crail, Elie, Anstruther,  St. Andrews, Inverness or Chanory Point (dolphins feeding on salmon there), Ft. George... to name just a few.

If it was low enough you need treatment they would likely tell you! Even just eating something high in vitamin C with your iron rich foods may be enough to put you back to normal. :) I'm the opposite extreme with iron overload... I have to "donate" blood (with great expense in the US, to the biohazard bin because its a disqualifying condition for donations) to keep it in check.

Enjoy the car and adventures! I really want to take a road trip to Scotland after seeing all of Tami's photos :)

On your side, go to Oban then get the ferry to Mull then take a shuttle boat to Staffa. You won't be disappointed.

Well, I can get us to Mull, but the Daughter won't go on the shuttle. She was up there a couple of years ago and it's not happening - she's terrified of being on boats. Worse than on planes. :(

I first found out when I went to one of my pregnancy check ups. Then i casually mentioned to my mom and she said, oh yes you’ve been anemic since you were a kid. Oh, thank you mom for not telling me haha! But i guess i’m not in that extreme state as Tami because doctor only told me to take some over the counter iron supplements. I do have most of the symptoms she mentioned especially the fatigue and itchy skin.

Happy Friday

1.) Greetings from Hangzhou, China.

2.) Had an interesting week of meetings and a free weekend in Hangzhou. Boss is leaving me be too to do whautever I want (including meals).  Fine by me.

3.) Hopefully the heavy rain stops a wee bit so I can enjoy something.  But I'm not afraid of the rain. I wouldn't survive in Scotland otherwise.

4.) Glad UK-Yankee works in China. Facebook, Google, Whatsap, Twitter, nothing works here (can get on 4G on my phone at least, but £££££££)

5.) Missing my husband, guinea pigs, chickens, garden, trombone
I've never gotten food on my underpants!
Work permit (2007) to British Citizen (2014)
You're stuck with me!

How much longer are you there for?? Have fun!! Love that UKY out of everything works haha

1. I’m in Brussels as we speak. Slept so sh*t because the room doesn’t have AC so it was boiling and we’re in a main bit so it was LOUD!

2. Has AMAZING “”all you can eat” ribs last night with a potato with some type of curry butter. It was heaven on a baked potato!

3. Will be seeing Ghent and Bruges on Saturday so that should be cool!

4. Back to work next week but only for half days...dread to think about what I’m going to come back to...
