My old company would do early release in the summer - 4 9hr days and one 4 hour a week. It was wonderful cuz chances were good you'd be working that much anyways.

1. Its my last day of remote work in the states. I'm relieved but still completely stressed out by it.

2. New job starts Monday. Will require a shopping trip for professional clothes because I gained a tad too much weight for what I brought to fit well and its been way too warm for them. I will still bring a sweater into the office though!

3. Since the job is professional dress I bought myself a clothes steamer. I can't handle dry cleaning chemicals and have always failed at ironing, so I'm hoping this works for both! But now I have to figure out where to find distilled water...

4. I have some challenging decisions to make about whether or not to have surgery. I'm not used to an environment where the doctor says yep, you need surgery in less than 10 minutes with you and sends you to the receptionist to schedule it. Totally ignored my complex history, didn't give me the chance to talk about how my previous surgeries weren't good and I still have chronic pain from the scar tissue etc. I don't want to end up in more pain, because what I have now is mostly manageable with meds... But they still won't give me them.

5. I haven't slept well in a long time and I'm starting to get cranky from it. I think I need to figure out how to make our tiny second bedroom comfortable for me because I need sleep.

It's Friday!

I'm just going to jump right in because:

1. This is the first week that my husband's day off doesn't fall on Saturday.  He'll be working a half day tomorrow, but he's home now and he is distracting.

2. We have recently discovered our life's philosophy.  Here is a good explanation: https://www.bbc.com/ideas/videos/how-to-live-a-hedonistic-life/p05wl1n2?playlist=the-a-z-of-isms

3.  It is HOT!  I mean, it's not hot by Arkansas summer standards, but without air conditioning, it's a bit on the clammy side indoors.  Ick.

4.  My 60-sometjing year old neighbour recently had a hip replacement.  She came round for a "weekly" visit on Wednesday wearing a summer dress because it's so warm.  I asked how she was doing after the op, and she said, "Do you want to see it?!".  I didn't expect this... she hiked up her hemline and I saw more 60-something year old flesh (and a nicely-healing incision) than I would've liked.  Honestly, guys, I did not see evidence of any sort of underwear!

5.  Shunshine!

Good luck on Monday Margo!  :)

Oh, and I wouldn't rush into any surgery, especially if you don't feel that the surgeon properly heard your concerns.

Welcome home, PB!

To echo KoD, "Sun's out, go home!" KF.

KoD, I loved your knuckle-cracking preamble.  My husband heard about a great (and inexpensive) Italian place in Salisbury and kept meaning to go there for, life, fifteen years... We finally went there about a year before we found our House, and then once or twice more  before we moved away.  Sad times.

Good luck on Monday, Margo!  My husband does four 9-hour days and one half-day now.  It's a handy schedule for getting things done during business hours occasionally.

I know I'll need it eventually... But I don't think I'm quite ready yet. Especially where we live - there's no handicapped parking, stairs, and my husband doesn't drive yet. I just want my pain management back.

4. We had AMAZING Italian last night. Not the first time we've had it, but we seem to only ever have it when my parents are here to visit and it's phenomenal! It always makes me wonder why I don't go there more.

Spill the beans - which one?

Yeah, my parents and my inlaws also feel the need to be buddy-buddy.  Whatev.

1.  Another almost-sleepless night, thanks to the heat.  It could have been made more bearable if my OH wasn't a huge baby -- he doesn't like to sleep with windows open, 'in case' a noise wakes him up, and he didn't want me to bring the fan through to the bedroom because it's 'too noisy'.  ::) ::) ::)

2. ice cream for breakfast - white chocolate & mint.

3.  i'm off work this week, and it's been great just lounging around and doing things in my own time.

4.  Think I might head out later in my  [smiley=heart.gif] air-conditioned [smiley=heart.gif] car, playing music really loud, and swing through the drive-thru Costa for a large iced coffee.

5. New favourite perfume! Vanille Gourmand by Laura Mercier

Did you speak to a person at the same surgery you registered at? If so, could you get a second opinion elsewhere perhaps to make yourself feel more comfortable regarding whichever decision you make?

Good luck on Monday! I'm sure you'll knock it out of the park :)

Spill the beans - which one?

Yeah, my parents and my inlaws also feel the need to be buddy-buddy.  Whatev.

It's in Ascot :) It's called La Sorrentina. They are actually italians that own/run it as well haha. Their food is like heaven on earth as an American with 100% Italian heritage and has grown up with homemade Italian food. Even their Bruschetta is the BEST that I've had in this country thus far. Tiny place (it was WARM last night as well) but honestly highly recommended. One of the few places I probably would actually give a full 5 stars to (and the espresso martini was actually properly fresh espresso).

The thing is that I don't think it's really both sides being "buddy buddy", it's more my mom specifically wanting to be buddy buddy and it drives me up a wall. Like she will comment on my Niece's facebook posts and stuff and it makes me cringe sometimes because it's so cheesy. I know she has the best intentions but I just hate how close she wants to be with them even though I know I shouldn't be bothered by it. It just makes me feel like they're overbearing....And she seems to think we have the same relationship to my in-laws that I had with my family back home which isn't true at all. We are close-ish in that we would help each other out whenever and we see each other regularly enough (well one of my in-laws our of the 3 siblings/families), but we don't have the same tightknit italian "up your bum" closeness that I had with my family and she just can't understand that no matter how many times I tell her.

Oh HELL no.  He can sleep on the couch with that many rules!

We didn't plan ahead very well when we bought our couch... we were more concerned with its length/how many people it could seat than anything else, and didn't reckon on anyone wanting to sleep on it at any point.  I tried to sleep on it last night, (with open windows and fan going!) but it's not deep enough/too narrow to be comfortable.... it's like a long leather bench, almost! I HATE IT, and would like a do-over, please!  ;)

It was a consultant at Circle Reading who is both NHS and private, and the standard of care when NHS is apparently much lower. The people who recommended him saw him privately, the one who cautioned saw him on NHS, and now I know why. I'm going to cough up the £300 to see an EDS specialist and get their opinion on how to proceed, and hopefully have their recommendations shared with the surgeon.
