I just think how much fatter I would be without artificial sweeteners!  ;)

I drank hella NutraSweet-infused Kool-Aid and Crystal Light in the mid-80s, but I was warned off by my GP in about 2005 over arrhythmia concerns.  I think the research at the time was brand new, and only correlative.  And now the link seems unsupported.  But the warning has left me spooked.  I mean, I grew up being served margarine and now it looks like real butter was the safe choice all along.  I don't want to be on the wrong side of the sugar/sweetener question when I can just be sensible about my refined sugar intake and enjoy life.  BUUUUuuuut... an occasional drink here and there for old time's sake probably won't kill me.  :)
I just get migraines from artificial sweeteners. Some stevia is OK, but too much tastes bad. And some sugar alcohols are ok in moderation. But realistically if that's not the reaction you have or allergy/rare medical things like PKU, the odd drink won't cause much trouble based on current research. However, if you were drinking a 2L every day you'd likely have the same metabolic issues a regular soda drinker has because your body still sends out insulin thinking you're having sugar. So enjoy that indulgence :D

So the wedding had lots and lots of drama.

Poor groom had emergency hernia surgery at 5am the morning of the wedding.  At 6am, it was determined that they *could* go ahead with the wedding.  They had been up all night on Friday night though.  Groom was released from the hospital at 11am, ceremony was at 2pm.  Poor guy was there physically but the meds he was on had him on a different planet.  He will NOT remember the wedding!!  Their first dance was them facing each other bopping side to side without touching!

I feel so bad.  They had the date set for two years.  You just can't plan for unforeseen circumstances.  I know they had a great day... it just wasn't what they had envisioned.  They leave for their honeymoon on Wednesday and the groom needs to stay away from sand and water.  Though I suspect they will enjoy laying around and relaxing in luxury!

I seriously do not regret eloping one bit!   ;)

Me neither!  I mean, even if the day goes perfectly,   that's a whole ton of money that could be better spent elsewhere, on something that's going to last more than one day!  ;D

Poor groom, that's awful.  Aww , I really feel for them :\\\'(

I was on the phone with NHS 24 the day before our wedding for my husband and we had to have an emergency GP appointment. The poor guy felt awful, with what we think was an adenovirus (and this later turned in pneumonia, he was very unwell for months after the wedding).  Our wedding was still great (I mean,we got married on a steam train ,so you can't go wrong), but you can tell from the photos just how poorly he was.

Yup, we did awesome rings (lasts forever) and the honeymoon of a lifetime (no regrets there!).

It would have been nice to have a party, as sometimes you just need to have a party.  But I don't regret the way we did it.  Just like people don't regret their big weddings.  We all have to do what works for us.  :)

Man, we haven't even had our honeymoon yet, because pneumonia ruined that for us and we haven't managed to suck it up, plan it or spend the money :\\\'(

Why not touching?  Surely he needed support, if nothing else.

Agreed!  In my case, it went into visa fees and a house.  :)

Married on a steam train?!  Okay, if I were to go back and have a wedding, this sounds like the way I'd want to do it.

Cuz he had been sliced open and was in pain!  High fives instead of kisses and hugs all day.

OMG... I'm back at work after 2 weeks off... and there's 2 new guys in the office.  One of them *looks* like an American!  I haven't dared to speak to either of them yet....  :-X :-X

I want to know if our thinking matches up. Which bit makes him look American? haha I dread when I hear another American in the office as I don't want somebody to try to buddy us up LOL

Maybe it's not so much that he 'looks American', but more that he doesn't look Scottish!
He's young - early to mid 20's, I'd say.  Has short back & sides brown hair and BIG brown eyes.  Slightly podgy, but not fat... kinda like puppy fat.   He looks a lot like Kevin from the Wonder Years, if you remember that TV show?
