It's Friday again, already!

1.  The only reason I know today is Friday is because my husband emailed his BBC 7 Days Quiz score to me (we 'compete' every week... he aims for the lowest score, because he's a misanthrope and would consider it an accomplishment to legitimately score 0/7. This week he got 1/7; I got 4/7).  He's had so much time off lately that it feels a bit topsy turvy.  He had yesterday and the day before off this week, so we jokingly referred to Tuesday as Friday, and now we have real Friday, and I'm so lost!.

2.  #1 is such a pleasant problem to have after The Dark Time when he was commuting.  Life continues to be very good, now.

3.  Our coffee was on offer when I was shopping.  I bought four vacuum-packed bricks.  My husband laughed when be saw it, but next week is Birthday Week (yay!).  He's going to be home from this Sunday to the following Sunday.  I'll be surprised if we don't get through at least half of the coffee (two bricks) before he goes back to work.

4.  I took a big hunk of meat out of the freezer to defrost on Monday, thinking how lovely it would be to have a slow cooker pot roast when he was home on Wednesday.  When I went to cook it, we learned we'd be having slow cooker pulled pork, instead.  Surprise!  I'm glad I discovered that before I chopped the pot roast veg.

5.  My cling film-wrapped pork shoulder joint leaked all over the bottom of the 'fridge as it defrosted.   My Friday activities pretty much made themselves.  Hurrah...

1.  I'm still suffering from this terrible cold.  I've had a headache for over a week.  I am SO OVER IT.  Ugh.  I'm ready to feel better.  Still pondering if I should find someone to sub my dance classes in the morning so I can sleep.

2.  The 4 year old has really been doing pretty okay at school and clubs this week.  I'm struggling.  ;D  We shall see how it goes.  Yesterday, I had my first experience of my kid smelling like "outside."  OMG.  BARF.  Ugh, I'm hoping it was a one off.  The kid stank.

3.  Due to feeling absolutely pants, I've still not jumped back on the diet bandwagon.  Currently having full fat Coke and chocolate chip cookies for breakfast.  Full fat Coke helps the head!  That's my story and I'm sticking to it.

4.  Had a flying visit to Manchester this week.  Literally saw the inside of the hotel and office.  That was it.  But going again in November and Taco Bell WILL happen.

5.  We have decided to do a long weekend in Madrid next year.  One of my good friends lives there AND they have pandas at the zoo.  Two birds, one stone.  Plus, we've not been before.   :D  So three birds.  hee hee.

JF - are you guys going to do something special for his birthday or just hang out? :)

My Friday 5:

1. Day started with a thick bathroom pipe going through my garage roof and husband's nicer car's windscreen. If only we had thought about the potential of needing to move our car out to safety.

2. We're going to look at a house today at 11:30. It's a fixer upper (again) which we were trying to avoid, but a much lower price than the other houses we were looking at with the potential to be worth a lot more when it's done/be just as good if not better than the other ones. It had a buyer who's sale fell through so is no longer in a position to be under offer, but they are still interested so we aren't holding out too much hope any ways.

3. Husband bought me the camera I was going to buy for myself as a very early birthday present! :D Was a very nice surprise. When I asked for the link to the camera, he sent me the link to the website where they had sent him a photo of his order. I was SO confused at first.

4. Our open house is tomorrow. Only 2 viewers. They wanted us to drop the price after it's only been a week with no feedback saying it was too expensive or anything - just that there wasn't a lot of interest in general at the moment (not just our house, the whole market in the area really). We are holding strong until they can at least provide us evidence as to feedback or something saying we should drop as they want us to mark it down to the same price our neighbours are listing theirs for except we've got more actual living space with our loft conversion, a usable outbuilding, and access to the road behind ours (with, arguably, slightly less updating involved).

5. JAPAN IS IN ALMOST 1 WEEK EXACTLY! YAY! :D So much left to do still..I don't even think we'll get it all sorted before then. We still have Yen to order!

*Bonus: I really need to get paid. Pay day needed to come like last week.

5. JAPAN IS IN ALMOST 1 WEEK EXACTLY! YAY! :D

It's my birthday next week... his was in June.  He has always taken at least one week off for my birthday.  And, apart from this year when he was too new at his job, he would take his own birthday week off.  For his birthday, I gave him the espresso machine.  For my birthday, we're going to drink coffee (I bought those four bricks, a tub of vanilla ice cream, and a bottle of Frangelico and Disaronno), eat homemade chips from the deep fat fryer he bought me (but he uses it), and be lazy, hedonistic cats.  Oh, and probably sort out the ducting for our dust extraction system in the workshop.

JAPAN!

I probably won't be on much from Sunday, so let me say this now: Have a fantastic trip!  Take lots of pictures (I know you'll flood Facebook!), eat all the weird things, and have fun!

KF, is it a sinus headache?  Lots of pressure around your eyes and occasional stabbing pain?  Sudafed (the real kind that you get from behind the counter) will fix that.

Sorry you're still feeling bad.  I don't mix my sugars, so I couldn't do cookies and Coke,  but that doesn't mean my cookie replacement (I'm not giving up the Coke!) would be healthy.  I'm thinking a bag of crisps... the jalapeno and cheese ones, that generally make my face leak a bit... would be good.  And maybe they'll relieve some of your sinus pressure, too (assuming that's the cause of your headache).

Edit:  Er, I mean, if you like mixing your sugars, you go ahead!  It would just make me feel ill. If you can get away with it, enjoy your cookies!

Probably.  I've been downing the Sudafed every 4 hours for the past week.  Probably doing major heart damage in the time being....  ::)

Ohhh... maybe you should stop the sudafed.  If you dry it out too much, that hurts, too.  Try the sleep aid antihistamine instead (Benadryl's active ingredient: diphenhydramine).  It reduces the production of mucus without drying you out.  But it will make you sleepy.

Day 5 of liquid diet?!  How?  Does it have to be clear liquid, or are smoothies and bldnded soups okay?

Final Destination (the first one, where you are introduced to the concept), is pretty watchable.  The sequels get progressively more ridiculous in their attempts to trick the audience about what and whether something will happen, and out-do previous events.

That sounds like a very heavy bucket!

In case I forget to say it, good luck with the op, Albatross!

Friday 5:
1) We are FINALLY mailing off the application for naturalization to Ireland for the Daughter. It has a 95% chance of failing. That still leaves 5%, and so is worth pursuing, given the stakes.

2) I was awful on the Wii the last time I was on it. It actually lectured me for being so bad.  Sometimes I hate that machine. It also said I've gained weight. Which I think was actually my being in a sweatsuit instead of yoga leggings and a t-shirt. (sigh)

3) I forgot yesterday was Thursday and missed my walking group. That is so weird, I never know what day it is anymore, not having to be anywhere for anything (except my walking group).

4) I have received almost all of the responses to all of the jobs I've applied for in the past month now. All are "no thanks." No big surprise there.

5) I need chips.

Who's your heart-throb????

Also, Final Destination series is ridiculous but kind of necessary to watch. Definitely have a marathon the next time you're needing a duvet day lol.

Good luck on your op!

Nan - Don't be discouraged. The job market is a pretty tough place at the moment. Sending positive vibes your way for your daughter

Thanks!  You're forgiven if you do miss it.  JAPAN!

Albatross, I got so distracted by the liquid diet that I forgot to say that I hope the op goes smoothly and they keep you more-than-comfortable while you heal (druuuugggssss).  Good luck!

Nan, best of luck for the Daughter's application.  Maybe they'll surprise you.  Based on your posts, you have clearly done everything you could do in support of it.  I hope your efforts pay off.
