Sounds manic KFDancer

How fun as you settle in MrsMagpie and become a local!

JFKimberly, great news about the referral. Finally!  Also, you should have bought the Christmas treats.  Because  you know, food. Mmmm.
I've never gotten food on my underpants!

If I see tasty holiday food I'm not allergic to I don't care what time of year it is. Looks like I'll have to make my own though because they put almonds in the gluten free Christmas pudding and mince pies I've seen so far. :(

Have you tried the "Free From" range of goodies?

Nan, do you not get any 'guisers' where you live?

Sadly no. We are in a secure building. And I watched out the window for them last year and didn't see any kids in costumes other than those who looked like they were going to/from parties with their parents escorting.  :(

Well I survived today’s insane day or work.  Logging off and heading home!  Finally see my sweet husband who has been away all week!   [smiley=love.gif]

Yeah, for some reason over here free from tends to still include tree nuts. In the US there were a lot more nut free choices. But when looking for recipes I've found a number without nuts so I should be OK. And I learned Nairns ginger biscuits will make a tasty pie crust. :)

I went (on Friday, so on topic)  to see a all girl punk rock band from Atlanta in Hackney.

The Coathangers were really great and we all had a great time.  It was just like all the shows I used to see in Charlotte in the 80's

Woke up this morning and had breakfast in a cafe, pancakes, sausage and fruit.

FRIDAY!  FRIDAY!  FRIDAY!!!

1.  Working from home today.  Something that never happens at my job.  But I gave myself permission today and I have a pussycat laying across my lap with his head on my hand, bouncing away with each type of the keyboard.

2.  Latest urine test shows Sobe's UTI is still there, so he goes in for another round of antibiotics today and we retest in a couple of weeks.  If it hasn't cleared, we'll have to send the urine off to a laboratory to grow the bacteria to see if he needs a different antibiotic.  Paws crossed!!

3.  I go see Les Miserables tomorrow night.  I've not seen the before or the movie, so it'll be a surprise to me!  I hope I like it.  I hear you either love it or hate it.

4.  I'm really proud of my husband this week.  He took half term off as he had loads of holiday left.  He has done something awesome with the 4 year old each day and not just done "jobs" around the house like I feared.  They've been to an adventure park, inflatable park, circus, met me for lunch, etc.  They've had so much fun.  I've been sad to not to a part of it but it's so awesome that they've had such good Daddy/Daughter time.

5.  Need to get the Halloween decorations out!

YEA FRIDAY!

1) Slept a little late. Woke up very early, decided the bed was too warm to get out of, nodded back off. It's clear as a bell outside, and looks chilly - although not the sleet and wind the MET kept saying we'd have. There was no frost on the grass or any of the roofs nearby, so while it is definitely "coat" weather, it's not "coat, thermals, handwarmers, gloves, scarf, hat, and uggboots" weather!  The daylight here is particularly kind on the eyes. I haven't had to wear my photogray glasses, except for a few days over the summer, here at all - just the "normal" glasses. No bright-light headaches, no perpetual squint... it's really nice! And right now it has a lovely sort of golden tone to it.  Makes all the colored leaves that much prettier.  :D

2) Have been debating going to the Gardens for a walking group they have there that starts at 10:00am. If I'd gotten up a couple of hours earlier, when I first woke up, I think I would have. But for now I've got my fuzzy bathrobe and a nice cup of tea and am feeling rather lazy. Perhaps I'll waddle out later, and go to the library. And come back via the garden. I might take a pocket full of unpopped popcorn, to feed the pigeons/squirrels. The Squirrels are particularly cheeky over there! And very cute.

3) I miss having a cat - we could get one (per the landlord) but I don't want to adopt one and then find we have to leave. So as soon as we have a bit more assurance we can stay, I think I need to get a cat. The Daughter has floated the idea of a small dog (they don't scratch the furniture) but cats use litter boxes and I have the feeling I'd be the one who had to take the dog out to walk five times a day! She's never owned a dog, and I have. They're lovely little animals, but cats are entirely more self-contained.  Plus, we have a bank of nice sunny, wide windowsills for it to sleep on. But then we can't open the windows, as there are no screens on them here and we're several floors up?  Still, it wouldn't hurt to investigate both options at some of the local shelters, I guess.

4) Parcelforce has cut checks for all three of the wayward "overnight" envelopes. Two have arrived and one is suposedly on the way. So,  $200-ish worth of mailing fees coming back to me. As I was expecting to spend them on the Daughter's citizenship anyway, I'm sending her for a massage tomorrow (she really needs one) and will just stash back the rest for, perhaps, a day trip.

5) We had wanted to go to Inverarry Castle one last time in the fall to see the leaves, but the landslip closed the Rest and Be Thankful for the last few weeks so we could not get there by bus. Emailed them to see if the trees still had leaves and if the garden was still worth the trip and was told no, so we'll have to wait until Spring now. I believe there's some little town not too far from here that has a ton of shops selling old books. Might be nice to go for an overnight to that place instead. Pleasant bus ride, good supper, nice B&B, browse the bookshops, buy a few for the collection (I'm going to need another set of shelves!), have a nice dinner, then take the bus back home.

Happy Friday!

(PS Enjoy your show. The dramatic Les Miserables (1998)movie was well-done. They took a lot of liberties with the text of the book, but one would have to do that, to make the transition to the screen. Hugo rambled all over the place. Liam Neeson was great, the part fit him well. Haven't seen the musical movie version, as I'm not big on musicals. But going to the theatre is always such a treat - dramatic or musical.  :) Trivia - did you know the Catholic Church banned the book, at one time? Ok, well, not actually banned, but it wasn't supposed to be read by the general public.)

1.    Going to see Bohemian Rhapsody tomorrow
2.   Pissed off with ZERO weight loss this week
3.   My heart-throb has released a new solo album – I bought it weeks ago, and have been afraid to listen to it in case it was rubbish (as I didn’t like his previous solo offering).  All those wasted weeks… it is DELICIOUS!!!    Tip of the week:  BUY IT!!!  http://www.ianmcnabb.com/
4.   One of my best friends at work is retiring next month… so jealous!
5.   My other work bestie – the one I told you about that has breast cancer – they have now found another lump on her kidney.  I don’t even know what to think about this, or what to say to her.  She’s only 39 and is a carer for her partner and her mother… totally selfless and does everything for everyone else and nothing for herself.  We watch and wait now, I guess.

I'm so sorry to hear about your friend...There's honestly nothing I think you can do but just be there for her when she needs you. Sending positive vibes for the best results possible.

The trouble is, I don't even know what that means... 'be there for her'.  She's not the 'needy' type.  She would never even say if she needed help with something.
