Congrats to the new citizen and sorry to hear of your friend Albatross.

I just got back from an awesome all you can eat Chinese buffet in Uxbridge.  I  started with an entire plate full of fried stuff, like asparagus and crab claws, then soup, then chicken curry over rice, then bananas fried and covered in toffee, then a slice of cheesecake
All you can eat!

Tonight is what used to be Star Trek night and is now Once Upon A time night.  The tradition is we get a good desert to eat in front of the TV, but I can't eat any more sweets today

I am going swimming after work at the open air heated pool, hope I don't sink like a rock

I would rather eat my own hand than go see a musical about French People, sorry not sorry KFDANCER.

I'm hoping raging diarrhoea doesn't hit while you are in the pool.

I would rather collect Sobe's urine test than see a musical

Me too!

Haven't posted a Friday Five in a while.

Now that the wedding is passed, I've had a lot of time to start applying for jobs, explore Swindon, etc.
My family has left and I'm sadder than I was before they came.

1. I finally cut my hair. I had the same stylist for years, and when I moved here, cutting my hair wasn't a priority nor did I want to entrust someone new with it. Finally, after 5 months, I got it trimmed and it looks amazing.
2. I got 2 rejection letters so far for job applications. I keep reminding myself it's only 2, and I still have loads more jobs to apply for. I made a list of vacancies and the list grows everyday.
3. It's soooo cold! 47F is winter-weather for Louisianians, so I am not really looking forward to winter... "Move to England, they said....It'll be fun they said..."
4. I woke up super late today and I'm pretty miserable about it. For some reason, every single shop in Swindon closes at like 5-6pm, so if I sleep too late I feel like I wasted my day away and I lose time to go out and do things. I didn't have this problem before. Without a job/now that my family has left and I'm sad, I am finding it harder and harder to just wake up. Then I end up staying up all hours of the night after Tom goes to sleep and I'm lonely .How do I break this cycle?
5. I joined a gym this week. (I know it's not a "Friday" but still.) I bailed on my workout class this morning because I'm still sore from the last one.

There were egg rolls, maybe even several varieties.  And all kinds of steamed buns and dim sum.

The pool is public, run by the YMCA.  Open till 9 tonight. The only thing I like about winter is the pool will be less crowded.

By the way, I've been meaning to ask about the printed circuit board you mentioned.  What's the deal?  Are you soldering?

Proper eggrolls?  With the bubbly fried wrapper, and filled with cabbage and pork?  Or do you mean spring rolls, which don't have the bubbly fried wrapper?

Oh, good!  YMCA means I don't totally hate you!  hehehe

The circuit board is for our circa-1984 pinball game we hope to resurrect.  It takes a William's system-9 board, which is sell-your-kidney rare, and one came up on my birthday.  It was new original stock that someone found in a warehouse or stockroom somewhere (so no fires!).  It's been tested and conditioned by K's Arcade and is ready to be put into our table.  But the table isn't ready for it... we're converting the lights to LED, and we need to put in a fuse to prevent the board catching fire.  This board is one of the last of its kind that isn't already in use.  Why do you ask?

It's hard to break out of the funk, I'm still deep in it and going through Talking Therapies. My husband and I go to sleep at the same time every night, and get up at the same time in the morning. It at least keeps me on a schedule! We read in bed for an hour or so to unwind from the day and then lights out at the same time.

Vitamins... Make sure you stay on top of vitamin D. There's less sun here so it may be a shock to your body, but D is important for mood. It's cheap, just don't go crazy (some people need higher amounts, but taking 1000iu every couple days should be good and if your mood is staying low ask your GP to test it).

Routine. Keep yourself on one, even if it feels useless. The gym is a really good idea! And maybe you can find some local walking groups that go places you'd enjoy? Maybe see if a local pet shelter needs volunteers to get more kitties in your life? Staying active will be the biggest help as the days get shorter and cooler. And the blizzard party is coming up! :)

I'm keeping myself busy with job applications but that gets overwhelming...I am part of a "writer's cafe" but they only meet 1 time a month, so I've been scouring for volunteer work too!!

It's SO hard for me to wake up when Tom does. I wake up and I always go back to sleep. The funk is real....I kind of feel like "what's the point" of waking up when I'll just be alone all day and cold.

I put on the coffee for me and Jordan (or he does if I'm having a slow moving day) first thing after waking up and taking morning meds. I make breakfast and drink my coffee and then figure out a plan for the rest of the day based on how good/bad my body is feeling. The routine is helping a lot so at least I don't just lay in bed all day. Check meetup.com too, you may find something that interests you and meets regularly :) Also, make sure you mix up things you enjoy with the job hunting. I'm trying to set up specific hours for sending out apps and looking because otherwise I get more depressed.

I don't have an intro for my FF this week.

1. I am also going to see Bohemian Rhapsody tomorrow!

2. Got the promotion at work that I interviewed for a couple of weeks ago. Three of us applied, and two of us got it (which was a shock, because there was only one vacancy as far as we knew). It's officially official in December or so.

3. I was added to random group Facebook chat (which I generally detest) a couple of nights ago, only to immediately learn that a nurse I worked with during my I-want-to-work-in-healthcare phase passed away recently. I don't know how, or when, but I am still reeling. I suppose I didn't know her that well, but we were a family, all of us who worked on that ward. A tremendous loss, indeed. Her funeral is on November 5th, and I am torn on what to do because...

4. I have my very. first. driving lesson on November 5th. Make sure you're inside, because I'm about to be on the roads!

5. Work has been impossible today. From 11am to 6pm, my day has consisted of stapling 36,000 leaflets to 12,000 payslips. My back, neck, and shoulders are killing me. Everyone else went home at 5, but I stayed on because I was determined to finish the box I had started. On a whim, I replied to an email in my inbox at about 4:30 from a lady, regarding this tax debacle that happened with a group of employees who TUPEd over to us in September, only to promptly be told she did not believe my explanation. That was the absolute last thing I needed to hear today after my sh*t show of a shift. I had worked so hard all day, then to be kicked in the teeth like that... I AM NOT A LIAR. No matter. My supervisor can have fun with that one on Monday.

I'll check out that website. Yeah, I mainly just want people-interaction that isn't through a screen while Tom's at work.

My first step is waking up at a decent time.

Sleep for me!

Random as F*** but I could put you in touch with my company.  We use "brand ambassadors" and you would basically demo products in store.  It's uber flexible.  You choose when/if/where you work as and when it's available.  Pay is pretty pants (£65ish/day) but it's money in your pocket and at least you'd be talking to people.  Probably talking too much!  LOL.  I suspect you'd be fabulous though.  And we are desperate for more people as the holiday rush is here.

WWAAAAAHOOOO!!!!  Congratulations!!!!!!!  Great news about the job.

And is it your first UK lesson?  Or first EVER lesson?  Regardless - good luck!

I'm sorry about your friend.  And don't answer the phone on Fridays in the future.  :P

Spring Rolls, straight from the pack into the fryer.

I see, the PCB is already full of bits.  The pinball machine sounds cool though.

I ask because I need a person or persons who can solder to help me finish my mendacino engine project.

I bought the kit and it's been sitting around because I don't have a decent soldering iron, or the skills to solder it, or a magnifying glass so I can see the tiny thing.  I've wound the wires, just need to solder on the solar panels.

Interested?  I'll mail it to you and give you visitation rights on the final product

Were you even American? You can't confuse us with talks of egg rolls when you mean spring rolls.
