1.  Don't even know what to say about this week.  It's been a roller-coaster of emotions... one minute I'm full of hope, an hour later -- CRRRASH!!!  Feel like I want to just have a big cry with hot, snottery tears, and just get it out of my system and start fresh!

2.  Hopefully getting a haircut tomorrow... I messaged the salon to see if they could squeeze me in, so I wait to hear back...

3.  Browsing the Morrisons Christmas food magazine... looks like we might be having a bacon-wrapped monkfish tail for Chrissy.  Would make a nice change, as we normally have rib of beef or leg of lamb.

4.  One of my best work friends is retiring in 2 weeks time.... I am going to miss him SO much!!!

5.  Everyone in my office seems to have the cold  -- i'm probably next.  >:(

Friday Five

1. I now know what happens when you try to take a box cutter through airport security.

2. I'm in Edinburgh airport waiting for the first leg of my flight. Edinburgh to Amsterdam to JFK to Raleigh Durham.

3. I'm going to see my wee bairns today!!

4. Waffle House for dinner tonight. Biscuits and sausage gravy, hashbrowns and maybe a waffle.

5. I've taken 2 of my pharmacy dispenser tests in the last week. I got a 90 on the first one and a 95 on the last one. 5 more to go!

His passport took forever too! I hadn't provided a mobile number but after a month of waiting, I called and they were able to accurately update me.
It literally came after I posted!!!

HeyJey, I'm glad you're feeling better.  Jenny, congratulations on the job and passport!  Albatross, I'm sorry you're a roller coaster of emotions. Monkfish for Christmas dinner sounds amazing.    Tami, enjoy your children and Waffle House!!

Friday!!!

1.) Well, work is still utter crap. Constant bullying and undermining has worn away my soul.  But I have a mentor now! I had one of the best work related conversations in a long time, so I hope this will lead to some better things.   [smiley=2thumbsup.gif]

2.) One of my hens is getting picked on/pecked on and is missing feathers galore.   Gotta buy some anti-peck so she can heal and hopefully this will put the other chooks off pecking her.   :\\\'(

3.) Yikes, one of the tiles in the ceiling just came crashing down, not far from my desk.  There was a leak in the roof identified last year and the soggy tile fell down.  Now it happened again.  Except this time, it was because the bucket which was the 'fix' for the roof leak was full.   ::)

4.) Now we're into the Christmas tunes for the brass band. Still so early, but we're playing Christmas light turn on events,so need to practise.   I have a great trombone solo in 'Fairy Tale from New York' [smiley=crown.gif] [smiley=elf.gif]

5.) Not sure what we'll be getting up to this weekend. We're really skint right now and it's another 5 days until payday.  So probably, not much.   [smiley=help.gif]
I've never gotten food on my underpants!

Sending positive vibes to all of you today :)

1. Everybody around me is getting ill and dropping like flies. I've been on and off ill all week but woke up and husband was complaining of a sore throat. I've got a feeling it's going to be ravaging our house soon enough.

2. It's Children in Need charity day at work today.Apparently people can dress up in the office....but nobody except the charity people have LOL. They should've maybe done this closer to Halloween to feel less weird about having to dress up.

3. Rik's car is fixed and running fine again thankfully. £200 later, but I can't complain because it's done!

4. Should have pink in my hair before the end of the weekend :)

5. I just feel like there isn't enough coffee in the world today...

Friday.

1) The caffiene is still not kicked in. Need coffee today, not tea. Daughter has informed me that one of her friends from the States has offered to bring a few bags of flavored coffee beans back for us next week! Yea!!!!

2) Daughter graduates in two weeks. (THAT was a long slog.) They said her dissertation was very good. Now waiting to hear about the next phase.

3) Went into Masala Twist to ask about Christmas meals. Was told we could get the "Festive Lunch" on Christmas Day. Put a deposit down on it. Later than evening was called by them, so sorry, but only the massive big questionably yummy "Christmas Dinner" is available on Christmas Day. Need to go back there to get my deposit back. (Boo, but at least the phoned and were honest about it all. Mistakes happen. I'll definitely go there another time, if for no other reason than that they phoned to let me know about the mistake.)

4) The power went out yesterday afternoon. Had gone out for lunch, came back and everything was off. Looks like it went at about 2:15pm and came back on about 9:00pm. I had a lot of chicken in the fridge, which I think is probably still ok since the fridge remained closed . I'll be canning it later today, just the same, which should kill anything lurking. My big crock-pot full of chili ended up sitting out that whole time as well. I've had it on "warm" overnight and hope it's still ok. We were going to have a tamale making party today, and were going to use the shreddy beef chili as the filling. It is a nice batch, too.  I'm thinking that it's probably safer than the chicken, at this point. (Was impressed that the power company phoned three hours into the outage to give me an update - I had phoned on the cell phone to ask if it was just us or widespread. Apparently there was a problem with a cable, so it wasn't just us.)

5)  Need to source an emergency power supply in case the power goes again. The heater and pump on my aquarium, of course, were off. I had piled towels around it to try to keep the heat in, but the temp in there went down to 72F. The ambient room temp was in the upper 60s, and the fish seem ok today, but I think that was a close call. If we lose power in a colder time of the year, when the room gets colder, it could be bye-bye for the fishies. We can get by without the filter running for a day (in a pinch) but the heater has to stay on.  I have a couple of tea warmers that use the little tea-light candles, and had fired them up and was warming some water up when the power came back on. (And then went out, and then came on again.) Not ideal, but it might have served.  Oddly, the lights in the main stairwell were on. The elevator wasn't working. And all the flats in the building had no power. BUT, I found out that I have a real landline, not a VOIP landline! During the outage, Masala Twist phoned and the phone rang.  ;D  After the call I lifted the receiver and yes, there was a dial tone! That's good to know!  So it appears that here we get our internet over our phone line. In the States I was getting our phone over the internet, so when power went, so did the phone.

So, a good cup of coffee is in my immediate future. Hope you guys have a good Friday/weekend. And if you're back in the States in the N.E., bundle up and stay warm!

Happy Birthday, heyjay! Hope you have a great birthday weekend.

JennyEye, congratulations on your shiny new British passport.

Albatross, I hope you are soon feeling better & that you don't get the office cold.

nctami72, sounds like a Thanksgiving trip - have tonnes of fun! And eat a lot!

Oh PB, bullying in the workplace, bullying in the chicken pen - what next?!

x0Kiss0fDeath and Nan, yes please pass the coffee!

1 - I am finally coming out the other side of a bad cold or maybe it was the flu(?) although I did have a flu shot a few weeks ago so who knows. I was running a fever for at least five days & spent a lot of time sleeping so I think that was my major accomplishment for the past week. :P  I won't be back in the gym until next week in any case. Think we'll do some rambling on Sunday though which is good exercise too.

2) I finally got myself out and into city centre yesterday for some essential shopping I'd long put off. Nothing exciting - socks for husband, health & beauty stuff. Did a quick run through Debenhams because I still have vouchers from my birthday (in the summer) I've not yet spent, but haven't decided what I want to buy.

3) Think I'm going to bake lemon drizzle cake this afternoon for the weekend. Was torn between wanting to make Mexican food for dinner (green chili chicken enchiladas etc) but think I will keep it simple on account of the cake baking, so grilled salmon & veg it is.

4) Wishing everyone on here a Happy Thanksgiving in the week ahead - if you are observing it! Maybe I'll make a pumpkin pie for Thursday.

5) I need to get the house tidier & sorted out, as our friend's (grown) son is coming to visit us next weekend. My friend & her husband are off to the US for Thanksgiving. The son graduated Oxford in the summer & we couldn't be more proud of him. Anyway, we invited him to come have a "Thanksgiving" with us since he couldn't join them on the trip. Although he's vegetarian so it'll be the Thanksgiving lasagna, and maybe chocolate brownies because I don't think he likes pumpkin pie.

BONUS FF thing - Forgot I have spent a lot of time this week planning stuff for our Malaga Christmas getaway, which is for my husband's family. It's a little like herding cats. Well it's either going to be fabulous or it's going to be a disaster. But I'm sure someone will find a way to complain about just about everything, seeing as they didn't volunteer to plan any of it...  ::)

1. I wanted to lose some weight, but being physically unable to eat wasn't really how I planned that. A friend gave me a juicer so that's helping a bit. I've been trying to eat a tiny dinner every night with my husband but it just causes me to be exhausted and nauseous. And the meds are literally making me crazy. The NHS says because there's no treatment other than risky meds there's no reason for me to see a GI specialist. That makes me so uncomfortable. A number of people with EDS end up on TPN because of severe gastroparesis, I would feel so much safer under the care of a motility team. My GI doc in the states is the one I had the longest and trusted the most. :(

2. Got my early Xmas present of new turntables, but forgot I will need new needles :( So that's another big expense I don't have funds for right now. I should have kept my cartridges from the US.

 3. Last weekend my husband decided it was time to replace the falling apart couch that's hurting me. 11 weeks and we will have a fancy new reclining sofa.

4. My kitty had her last vet visit hopefully for a while. She's back to herself and up to date on all her vaccines, no more fleas. Will continue giving her a shot for flea control every 6 months since she's an indoor cat.

5. I'm going to an accessibility gathering at Gatwick Airport tomorrow. They invited representatives from EDS UK (and other groups) to come speak about the accessibility challenges faced when flying. So I'll be talking about the challenges of "signature scents" and forcing disabled passengers to be pushed through the duty free fragrance area. We will be in the Virgin lounge, one of the first places using those scents, so I am hoping I can actually stay long enough to speak.

They wouldn’t have tried to deliver it if it hadn’t been approved because if it had been refused, there would be no BRP to deliver in the first place.

You will receive your approval letter, passport and documents separately. Sometimes the BRP arrives first, sometimes the letter and documents do :).

1.  A day late - sums up my week quite well!

2.  Been ill.  It was like pulling teeth to get someone to sub today’s dance classes.  This has confirmed that it’s time to pull the plug on this.   :-\\\\

3.  Supposedly had an Amazon delivery yesterday but we can’t find it anywhere...  wish us luck!

4.  In the last 72 hours I’ve had 5 rich tea biscuits and a piece of toast

5.  Saturday night - Prosecco, Strictly, no phones, and tapas night with my husband.   :D

You can't win really because even if you managed to turn up for dance class, they probably would've just complained that you were ill and potentially going to make the kids ill. Glad Malc is back so you have some backup now! Hope you get some rest :(
