I think I need Costco in my life.  Beef hot dogs!  *wistful sigh*  Other stuff I can't think of offhand, but if you turned me loose in the store I'd find a cartload!  *bigger sigh*

I'm hoping to do a stocking with my husband this year. Our gifts to each other have already been given! (replacement ring for him, used turntables for me) But we haven't even bought a tree yet, last weekend was spent starting to find space for it, so hopefully this weekend.

PB - glad you found a replacement piano player! I hope the event goes well and raises lots of money :)

1. I have a volunteer role helping a nearby independent EDS group in Sussex (with the blessing of the national organisation to be able to do more for the area). I'll be helping them get their web presence set up, and hopefully it'll help me feel a bit more useful.

2. I realised I better send the few family Xmas cards I planned on sending this weekend or they won't make it before Christmas.

3. My husband is gonna put my UKY secret santa gift in the mail for me cuz I'm kinda doubled over in pain. Getting mirena wasn't as bad as I expected at first, but it's gone down hill. Probably going to have to go back to the doctor to make sure it's not moved :( (it seemed too easy, most friends said the first part was the most painful experience of their lives so I went in expecting kidney stone pain, instead it was what I deal with every month cramp-wise.)

4. After a month of not being able to eat without meds I finally was prescribed zofran. I needed a letter from a consultant to get it, but they still won't give me a referral to one so I'm glad they at least wrote for advice. Unplanned pre Christmas diet has been quite successful! :(

5. Elly has been pretty clingy lately. The second my husband or I leave the house she immediately runs to make sure the other of us is still here and camps out next to us. It's cute but it makes me worry about when we are both gone for the day!

I'm glad to find that I'm not the only person that does stockings with my husband! haha I know it's not common over here for adults to do stockings but it's my favourite part of Christmas!

Of course!  It's not Christmas without a stocking!

Oh definitely - we do stockings for the whole family each year, and the youngest of us is 28 (though we use pillow cases and not stockings)!

Even when my parents came to visit me in Gibraltar last year, they brought over a stocking for me, plus a mini tree with lights and decorations :).

I love that they did this!  My family are very different to yours.  *envy*

Stockings were how we "announced" we were expecting.   ;D

That is adorable  :D

Glad everyone seems to have had a good week! I don't have five this week unfortunately but I'm done with Christmas shopping except for stocking stuffers and socks  ;D

I've been a hormonal mess this week so here's hoping shopping tomorrow makes me feel better lol.

That's adorable and I love that the cats had stockings! lol

Margo - yeah we are doing stockings only because our trip to Japan cost a lot and our birthday presents to each other were quite expensive (and spending Christmas in the US made it a lot harder to buy anything big that we'd have to transport home/there's not much we particularly need) so we compromised and went with lets do Stockings but with higher quality stuff. My husband is not great at stockings...hoping he kind of steps up his game this year, but I'm not holding out hope. He's rubbish with this kind of stuff lol

What do the rest of you get grown-ups for stockings? Love to see more people do adult stockings! :D

My Friday Five:

1. Feeling a lot more relaxed now about the dress I'm wearing for the RAF Christmas Draw I'm going to next Friday (the whole saga is detailed in the Inconvenient Annoyances topic... essentially Coast kept sending me the wrong size) :).

2. Just gotta actually get through the Christmas Draw now... it's my first formal RAF dinner/ball in 5 years, and I've never been that comfortable at them. There's all the military etiquette at dinner, and the fact that normally they seat you with someone you've never met before, so you have to make awkward small talk all evening! I'll also have just worked 2 night shifts, so not sure how long into the night I'll last :P.

3. Looking forward to my trip to London tomorrow for a Christmas meet-up with some friends from across the UK. It's the first one in 3 years I've been able to go to :). I had to switch a whole 2 weeks of shifts with a colleague, just so I can attend it!

4. Unfortunately, switching those shifts now means I can't attend the work Christmas meal next Thursday night, because I'm on a night shift... I'm the only one who can't attend, and I haven't been able to go to one since 2013 (it's a bit annoying because the original plan was to do it tonight, which everyone would have been free for, since we're on call at the weekends now, but the Lincoln Christmas Market is on and apparently that means everywhere is booked up)!

5. I've been trying to get into the Christmas spirit this week... I caved and put my Christmas tree up last Sunday (normally I would have done it this coming Sunday), and I've been listening to Christmas songs in the car, and watching (or at least attempting to watch) the cheesy Hallmark Christmas movies they're showing on Channel 5 :P.

5. Almost booked another flight to Japan earlier this week haha Prices were SO good (£400 round trip - direct to Tokyo from England) but we're being cautious because of my ILR application....but I think this means we're going to need to continue to keep our eyes out for flights later in the year when I should definitely have my passport because we're itching to go back there.

Also agreeing with the "YAY, IT'S FRIDAY!" sentiment.

Inquiring minds want to know... Where did you find this????  :D

I'm all about the Christmas stocking with jokey things. Hubby is slowly getting better at this after all these years.  Took him a while to figure out that stockings are a must and must be full of random ass things!

So about Christmas Lights On Houses in the UK...

Embarassing? Really?

I'm trying to reconcile this with having gotten off the bus over at the stop for B&Q last week, hiking up to it, coming around the corner to see a double-decker bus with half the top missing (like an around-town tour bus), every inch of the vehicle decorated with eye-stabbing blinking colored lights, with ginormous inflatable elves and reindeer on the top (and, apparently, inside), and with loudspeakers blaring Elvis singing "Blue Christmas".  We're talking blaring here, not just loud. From across the parking lot loud. (It was a tetch surreal.)  And every shop I went into had some other variety of Christmas music also at a very loud volume. Lots of tinsel hanging everywhere. Lights in their windows. As I was heading back for the bus stop it was Elvis again.

So it's lights on houses that are crass, then, and not the rest of the "seasonal festive decorations/music"?

 ;) ;)

That embarrasses my husband too. LOL

Okay, cute!  But, also, that lighted garland is so pretty!  It's sparklies and lights and I love it!

Me too! It's beautiful!  :D
