What do the rest of you get grown-ups for stockings? Love to see more people do adult stockings! :D

We don't do jokey kind of things in our stockings, because it ends up as clutter, and my OH already has a clutter/hoarding problem without adding to it!

Things I always put in his stocking:
Batteries
Disposable razors
Sweets & chocolate
Socks
Travel-size shampoo
Bag of 20p coins (long story)
His fave soap from Lush
Roasted pistachios
Shoe laces
Dental floss
Alcohol miniatures
Nurofen
Sharpie pen
Gadget screen wipes

Hopefully that gives you ideas. Might seem a bit boring, but for a guy who never had a stocking since he was about 10 years old... he loves it!!

I'm hoping to do a stocking with my husband this year. Our gifts to each other have already been given! (replacement ring for him, used turntables for me) But we haven't even bought a tree yet, last weekend was spent starting to find space for it, so hopefully this weekend.

PB - glad you found a replacement piano player! I hope the event goes well and raises lots of money :)

1. I have a volunteer role helping a nearby independent EDS group in Sussex (with the blessing of the national organisation to be able to do more for the area). I'll be helping them get their web presence set up, and hopefully it'll help me feel a bit more useful.

2. I realised I better send the few family Xmas cards I planned on sending this weekend or they won't make it before Christmas.

3. My husband is gonna put my UKY secret santa gift in the mail for me cuz I'm kinda doubled over in pain. Getting mirena wasn't as bad as I expected at first, but it's gone down hill. Probably going to have to go back to the doctor to make sure it's not moved :( (it seemed too easy, most friends said the first part was the most painful experience of their lives so I went in expecting kidney stone pain, instead it was what I deal with every month cramp-wise.)

4. After a month of not being able to eat without meds I finally was prescribed zofran. I needed a letter from a consultant to get it, but they still won't give me a referral to one so I'm glad they at least wrote for advice. Unplanned pre Christmas diet has been quite successful! :(

5. Elly has been pretty clingy lately. The second my husband or I leave the house she immediately runs to make sure the other of us is still here and camps out next to us. It's cute but it makes me worry about when we are both gone for the day!

Mirena was pretty painful to have put in for me, then it was okay for two months then it was bad cramps for 3 months then it was smooth sailing!

The usual. American girl meets British guy. They fall into like, then into love. Then there was the big decision. The American traveled across the pond to join the Brit. And life was never the same again.

The pain just keeps getting worse :( seeing an ob tomorrow. If I don't move for a while it goes down but sitting, walking, pretty much every thing and it's back to an 8. Definitely can't manage months of this!

That’s awful :( I know one friend in particular who had a bad reaction to it so will be good to get it checked out

No this is perfect as we don't really do too many jokey things (if I see something that he'd love that's jokey, I'll get it but we're in the same where it just creates clutter and he's the one that hates clutter so would have the opposite effect on him than intended for a stocking). We go practical but I try to find things that are also thoughtful/relevant to him. This is what I've got so far:

  • ]Laser level tool thing (has a tape measure and stuff in it) - he does a lot of DIY so I thought the laser line would be helpful
  • Shaving Soap (as opposed to cream) usually get lush shaving cream but thought maybe he could try something different since I got him a shaving brush last year.
  • Japanese Practise Notebook - he's learning to read Japanese so I got him a book to practise learning to write it to
  • Men's exfoliating soap
  • A Manga - thought it'd also be good to help him read as it's a very basic one that's meant to be good for beginners
  • Touch screen gloves because he's been going on about them
  • some japanese snacks
  • Small hammer with magnetic grip as my husband lost his hammer (but he's since bought one LOL)
  • magnetic wristband for DIY to hold his screws
  • "Man Grease" lotion bar that's meant to be good for mechanics/DIY people
  • aftershave
  • a pair of sushi socks - they are adorable
  • pair of christmas pants
  • Deck of cards for a game we play

In fairness that is probably enough but might just fill any gaps with choccy and beers

I've got my grumpy pants on today - WARNING!

1.  Husband has gone out 3 times in the last 7 days.  4 times in the last 2 weeks.  I'm over it.  ;)

2.  Tomorrow we go to Christmas at Kew, which is our annual tradition.  We absolutely love it.  Thankfully the weather forecast has improved temperature wise by quite a lot, but it's still a 100% chance of rain.  Boooo.  But at least it's not 100% chance of rain and -4 as a low which was forecast a few days ago!

3.  4 year old had her nativity play at school yesterday.  She did really good.  I was surprised by how long it was (about an hour!).  The Reception kids were VERY squirmy by the end.  ;D  She was an angel.  Oh, the irony!

4.  I have on a very obnoxious Christmas jumper today.  ;D

5.  I'm still a bit clueless for what to get my husband for Christmas.  Ooops.  Most of my ideas are replacing the very nice gifts that I've given him in the last couple of years that he's either broken (apple watch) or lost (wireless headphones).  But then I'm a mean b*tch who doesn't want to buy those items again.  :P

You forgot number 5!! hahah Is that because of the grumpy pants?? Yeah we have Christmas jumper day here as well but I wore mine for team lunch yesterday so couldn't be bothered to wear it again LOL (not to mention the office is DEAD).

here's mine!:

1.Squash tonight! Means I can eat all the pizza for dinner without feeling too bad about myself LOL Annoyingly though, we could only get a court for 7 so I kind of have to come home, wait a bit, then head out and try not to get in a "CBA" mood.

2. Also need to wrap Christmas presents tonight! We have a party at my SIL's house where her friends and the family will be there so need to have everything wrapped and ready to go tomorrow. Got more supplies yesterday so I'm ready to go, I'm just putting it off as long as possible because I don't enjoy it haha

3. Got so much to sort out at work before leaving for the US next week, but I honestly cannot stay focused (worse than usual) because it's just full blown holiday mode going on with everybody. Everybody seems to just be trying to get to the finish line so they can stop for the year so nobody is really caring much about anything (and some people are already off so the offices are dead!).

4.  Still need to work out some details before next week as we're meant to go snow boarding on Thursday but have to work out rentals and potential lessons and everything. Just not had time to think about it because we've been so busy with stuff over here. Need to look into all that this weekend so we can be prepared!

5. Still no movement really on the house which is frustrating. So many people have "made the right noises" and one even said "it'd be right for us...for the right price.." then went for another house that priced identically so that was frustrating. We are looking to take it off the market for a month or so so we can enjoy the holidays without stressing and we can maybe make a few further minor improvements (we were going to do bigger ones like our kitchen, but it's hard to do that without spending a fortune that you won't get back in sales) and then we'll re-list with a new agent in the new year but now we just aren't sure. It's a tough market and it's hard to know what the "right" thing to do is. We may just leave it on the market through the new year to see if there are any clicks over the holidays and - if not - THEN we'll remove it. It's just stress I don't want to deal with at the moment but we aren't in a rush because there's nothing out there we want to buy anyways.

Friday Five:

1) After having an awful stomach ache last night after supper (tomato soup, a cheese toastie, and a glass of milk... say what???) and hours hunched over in the loo, and 10 hours straight sleep, I feel much better today. Hmmm, I wonder about that gall bladder, sometimes.

2) My five-tier Songmics bamboo shelving unit came. I wanted to put it in the kitchen, but we have these weird baseboards where they retrofitted piping through or something. The baseboard sits 26cm high, and out four or five inches from the wall. The shelves looked odd in front of it. So I hopped a bus and went to B&Q to get some bricks, with the plan to put bricks under the front two legs and the back legs on the baseboard. The bricks look a little iffy, but it works. At a later date I will get some boards and put a board on top of the bricks and then around the base, to look a bit less student-flaty.

3) Coming back to the  bus stop from B&Q with said 8 bricks was not good. I should have taken 2 Ikea blue bags and put 4 in each, but I only had the one bag and they were too awkward and heavy to carry. So I phoned the Daughter to get a cab for me and that I'd have them take me half way and then hop a bus. Cab showed up in less than 5 minutes, which is good as it was freezing cold and getting worse, and the sun was going down.  Told the cabbie I wanted to go to Anniesland (about halfway home), where I'd catch a bus. He asked me where the bus was going to take me and I said home (gave the address) and he said he'd drive me the whole way for 8 quid.  We had hit 8 quid before we even got to Anniesland, and he just reached up and turned off the meter. I told him it was ok, to just leave me at a bus stop, but he wouldn't hear of it. He said the bag was waay too heavy and it was too cold out and what was I thinking! So he drove me all the way home and then only wanted the 8 quid (for what should have been close to a 20pound fare). I gave him a tenner (which was all I had on me) and he wanted to give me change. Uh, no way! He even insisted on carrying the bag all the way to the front door.  That's what I love about Glasgow....

4) The Daughter cooked a really nice Waitrose Chicken and Chorizo pizza for us for supper. Got them two for six. It was surprisingly good.

5) They are saying it's going to snow tomorrow. I believe that. I just ran to the corner shop to get some milk so I don't have to go out all weekend. Brrrrrrrrr.
