My Friday Five:

1. Off to Brighton for the weekend, to attend a convention for the TV show Lucifer :).

2. Just under 3 weeks until I head back to the Falklands again :).

3. This time it'll actually be summer in the Falklands. Okay, so it's not THAT warm, but they do get few days of high temperatures now and then (just depends on the wind direction). For example, today's high is 16C (Westerly wind), tomorrow's is 24C (Northwesterly from South America), Sunday's is 16C (Westerly) and Monday's is 12C (Southerly from Antarctica) :P.

3. Not sure if anyone is watching the Red Arrows series on Channel 5 on Wednesday nights, but they've been showing how they build up their formation flying during the training season... well, as I've been typing this post, five of the Red Arrows flew over my house in formation :P.

4. I've had such a lazy week this week... I only worked 2 shifts and I've been off since Wednesday morning, not back until Tuesday next week... so I've been binge-watching a ton of TV shows. First was Sex Education on Netflix over the weekend (it's pretty good, and filmed just 15 miles from where I grew up, though who knows what's going on with the Americanisms) and I'm onto SKAM now, which is also really good. Plus, I finally finished the West Wing (I've been trying to finish season 7 since October) :).

5. Why can I never think of a number 5? :P.

OOOH what's SKAM? I have Sex Education on my list of things to watch but just finishing up a few shows first. I've heard Lucifer is REALLY good and I keep meaning to start watching it but I always forget when the time comes to pick a show. Hope you enjoy Brighton!

JF - OH NO! Was hoping you wouldn't have any more mice issues :(  Can you share your Bailey's coffee recipe again? I can't remember what you had said you do to make it but I might want to give it a try this weekend! LOL

Nan - no bigger annoyance than doing a food order and not getting some of the most important bits of the order as you then just need to go to the shops anyways so might as well have just done that than pay for the delivery! lol Sorry you didn't get your chicken! Sounds like they aren't the best with their deliveries after hearing your experience and JF's

KF - YAYYYYY HOLIDAY! So close but so far away! it's going to seem like ages but time will fly! Dude cousin's bf sounds like he's TOTALLY going to propose in the immediate future! Do we like him then from what we know so far!? :D  Feel you on the work (though not to that degree! I don't sit on any real boards or anything, but I have so much to do and just no motivation to do it today because it's my quiet day as in I have no meetings)

My, how time flies....

SKAM is a Norwegian show about teenagers (Skam means Shame in Norwegian). It has 4 seasons of about 10 or 11 episodes each - and each season focuses on one main female character. It’s kind of like Skins, and I’m enjoying it so far :). I’ve only been able to find it on an online streaming site (with English subtitles) though.

Lucifer is great, though a bit cheesy and campy (so if you can get over that, it’s fun). Unfortunately, the lead actress isn’t that great (she’s a bit wooden) but the rest of the cast is really good :).

Albatross, have a great time. Tiny Rebel, I'm jealous!
KissofDeath, yay, good luck on ILR!
Nan, I brought canning lids back from the US in December,  because they're way cheaper, proper Ball ones and not crap Kilner ones.
JFKimberly, ooh, strange dreams fascinate me!
KSand24 enjoy your conference!
KFDancer, not long until your holiday. That sounds like it will be great fun!

And.....Friday......

1.) This week went quick. Busy at work and busy outside of work.  Lots of playing music this week!  [smiley=guitarist.gif]

2.) Not intentionally, as I had wanted to post this, but in direct contrast to  x0Kiss0fDeath's #4, this Sunday marks a 1 year anniversary since we signed up to the gym.  We've gone 50 out of 52 weeks, with an average of 2 visits a week.  I have even gone to the gym when travelling for work.  My health has greatly improved and I'm getting stronger and fitter all the time.  My cardiovascular fitness has gone from poor to above average and I'm able to lift 3-4 times as much as a year ago.   And none of it had to do with losing weight. All of it had to do with mental health and seeing what my body is capable of. And it's amazing.  I feel great.  So f off to those researchers and writers who say you can't be fat and fit. You can.   [smiley=2thumbsup.gif] [smiley=2thumbsup.gif]

3.) Actually had a productive conversation about work and goals and 2019.  Not saying I feel 100% better about work at all, but it's nice to actually not post about work with a sad face.   :)

4.) Hoping Mary Poppins Returns is still in the cinema, because I would like to see it.  ^-^

5.) Need to clean the chicken coop out, but it's so cold. Brrr.  But I'm sure the girls would appreciate it, so needs must.   [smiley=end.gif] [smiley=dead.gif] ;) :D
I've never gotten food on my underpants!

And she's booked into the Bibbity Bobbity Boo Boutique.  Even though she's not a girly girl (at all) and has basically no hair, I still can't wait.  :D

Oh my gawd, my neice did that when she was 5, and it was fantastic!  The most adorable thing ever.  I have a few photos on Facebook.  (They have packages for boys, too, but your boy is too young to appreciate it or care... and there might be a minimum age, anyway.)

This is the first proper one just for the show, as far as I know (other than some of the cast appearing at comic cons). I’ve met Tom Ellis a couple of times already but not the rest of the cast:).

Oh!  Is Lucifer a comic/graphic novel thing?  I had no idea!  That explains the convention!  Hah!

JF - OH NO! Was hoping you wouldn't have any more mice issues :(  Can you share your Bailey's coffee recipe again? I can't remember what you had said you do to make it but I might want to give it a try this weekend! LOL

We won't be fully creature-free until we are able to re-render and seal up the exterior of the house.  We're just bailing out a leaky boat at the moment, trying to get rid of the creatures faster than they come in.

Heh.  Our Bailey's coffee is a single shot of espresso, one lump of demerara sugar, and an equal amount of Bailey's  Irish Cream ( we're cheap and we like it better, so we use the fake Bailey's from Aldi).

This is the size of cup we use, except it would be half espresso, half fake-Bailey's, with one demerera sugar cube mixed in (so the colour would be more cafe au lait, less espresso... sorry I don't have a picture of it.  It's exceedingly drinkable and never lasts long enough for pics).

Oh!  Is Lucifer a comic/graphic novel thing?  I had no idea!  That explains the convention!  Hah!

It is originally - part of DC Comics and created by Neil Gaiman... though I think the TV show deviates from it a lot (I don’t read comics so I don’t know). It’s basically a cop procedural show with supernatural elements :).

Having said that, all kinds of TV shows have conventions these days, even if they have nothing to do with comics or graphic novels. This particular company runs conventions for a mixture of comic book and non-comic book shows.

Was just going to ask if it was like SKINS. Sounds like it! :D

They do adults now too! Or they are going to start to soon at least. I read about it and when we were looking at going to Disney on a family trip, that was the one thing I did want to do! haha

Is Skins worth a watch?
It was below my radar when it was being shown on C4, but I've noticed it on catch-up/box-set and wondered if it was any good...

hahahahahha!  Oh, KoD.... hehehe!  If you ever do this, I will need pictures!

I won't lie... 5 year old me would've loved it.  But I can't imagine doing it now.  It would take a whole lot of glitter to sparkle this.

hahah I'd give no sh*ts! I want my princess make-over to unleash my inner mermaid!  ;D hahahaha she's just waiting to come out! :p But I think the adult "makeovers" are a lot different (and more expensive LOL) than the kids ones. You don't get like outfits or anything just like a spa thing where they'll do nails or hair or makeup (or all of it). I'd be all for getting my seashell tiara though...just sayin'

From your link:  "A full package which includes hair, makeup and nail designs will cost an adult $120 (£93)."

Okay, that is reasonable for a bit of fun.  I'm in, after all.  Plus, it's at the spa at the Grand Floridian, which was my dream hotel as a kid.

Friday! I actually have 5 today.

1. I think my new stomach med is helping my anxiety. It's not working for my stomach though, so I guess it may be time to chat mood stabilisers with my doctor. Most anti emetics also have mental health uses as their main focus, just at higher doses. I'm so sensitive to meds that at a fraction of a normal dose they usually do something but frequently it's just causing severe rare side effects, so less anxiety is a welcome change.

2. I'm down to 60kg, at 5'7" height. Gastroparesis means not digesting anything well, and even adding full fat coconut milk to everything I drink, eating dairy free ice cream as often as I can, and similar I'm not able to keep enough calories down to stop losing weight. I really don't like this at all! Referral is in so now just waiting for the letter/appointment.

3. I had a long chat with my husband about career stuff. He's always been on the technology side of companies, while I've always been part of the "business" as an analyst. While I've been searching the only junior/mid level roles that don't require a degree here are in programming, and as a whole "tech" has many digital communities focused on building diversity. On the business side its even more competitive and differences aren't as accepted, especially long term illnesses (but of course does depend on the company). So I started the #100daysofcode challenge, and it basically means you commit to doing self directed learning for an hour a day and post about what you're up to on twitter (for support, connecting, and staying committed). I have a lot to refresh and learn, but hopefully in the long run it will keep me in the workforce longer! And I found a wonderful woman locally to help with my CV and she's going to see if she can help with finding a part time or remote opportunity.

4. Like all things in London, the show I wanted to see sold out before I could get tickets. Within minutes of going on sale. *sigh* I should have asked my friend if she had the ability to set any aside. I missed the last Yayoi Kusama exhibit the same way, they sell out so fast.

5. I'm excited, my husband agreed to visit a mutual friend and work on music! We have a broken monitor that needs repairs and share walls so our house is not really appropriate for making music in, and he knows I've really missed it even though he hasn't. So next weekend we are off to Coventry to do that. I really appreciate that he invited us, and is ok with me being a part of it. (husband was "big" in our little genre, but had stopped writing by the time I met him and I get lots of messages asking to "make" him write again... )

3.  Kids have colds again.  I swear, we are NEVER healthy in this house.  I miss Florida!  The heat kills the bugs.

Florida. Bugs. Florida. Bugs. Hmmmm  ;)  I do not tend to think viruss when the two words are in the same sentence.  ;) ;)
