I am so looking forward to larrabee's post about her first ever Costco experience!  Yay!
My five:
1. On Monday, I went to my GP surgery and collected my records that I'd brought over from America and and man, there were tears last week when this all started and I couldn't even write about it to let you guys know what I was dealing with.  It was easier to just ignore it 'til it resolved.  BUT I HAVE MY RECORDS BACK, and most of it is there, in their original condition!
2.  I also had the car all day on Monday, so I went to the pharmacy and bought "buttons" (co-codomal, because we have been out for about a year, and I like to have it available in case my torsioning ribs grind against each other), I went to a local butcher's and bought an impulse purchase of shin of beef, and I went to Morrison's in Llanelli (I was hoping they'd have Jamaican scotch bonnet sauce, but I didn't see it... but I did find chicory, and we had the best chick'n chicory ever on Tuesday night!).  I also stopped by a vision express, but they were booked all of Monday, and didn't have any openings for yesterday when I was going to be back in LLanelli.  So, no dice on the vision checkup.  But otherwise, I did stuff, like a fully integrated member of society!
3.  My husband and I don't do anything for Valentine's Day, so I was kind of surprised when he gave me a £1 scratchcard and a Cadbury Crunchie last week... and the £1 scratchcard was a £1 winner, so I redeemed it on Monday... for another £1 scratchcard.  After a silly discussion with the clerk about which kind I wanted, I got another of the same and took it home.  When my husband got home, I scratched it off and won £5.  This is the Valentine's gift that keeps on giving.  I was going to redeem it yesterday and buy another £1 card, but...
4.  I had my hospital appointment for respiratory medicine yesterday.  Two years ago I requested this referral.  Yesterday, I got it (because my cardiologist suggested I see respiratory medicine, and I was like, "I know!  I tried!").  Part of the appointment included an ABG (some of you know about this).  At the end of the day, I was just ready to go home, so no scratchcard redeeming for me.  I did stop at Aldi, though.  It was a very brief stop.  I spent less than £7.  In and out.
5.  I bought prepared food away from home yesterday!  I don't think I've done that since the Blizzard party in November (my husband and I cook just about everything we eat).  I was at the hospital from 9am to 1:30pm, so while I was waiting for my turn to give a blood sample, I had lunch at the hospital's canteen.  My husband laughed at me because I said it was better than most of the chain pubs I've been to.  He said, "Oh.  That's sad for Harvester!"  But it really wasn't bad!  I figured it would all be bland, low-sodium "healthy" stuff, but I had very tasty (if a bit dry) roast chicken, mashed potatoes and roast potatoes, and green beans.  The woman said, "Do you want gravy?"  I said, "That's the best part!" and she put two ladelfuls on.  It was the best!  And after I ate, all I had to do was put my tray on a rack and walk out... no washing up!  I wish I wasn't so tight with money.  I could get used to easy noms.
