Awww, he's a cutie!

It's hard when a cat gets older. We had three cats, two of which we got when the Daughter was 7 years old. The last one died at age just short of 21 by two weeks, I think, when she went off to study abroad. The cat was just devoted to her and stopped eating. Unfortunately, that was enough to tip her barely functional kidneys over the unrecoverable wall.  When you've had a cat for so long, they are family, and it's really hard when they die. I don't envy you the battle with Sobe's microbes now, but I hope you can take some comfort in knowing that you are doing everything you can for her. The kitty knows she is loved.

Awww, poor kitty KFDancer. Hopefully you can find something that makes him feel better!

Friday!

1.) Have a committee meeting tonight. Another rock and roll Friday for me!  [smiley=bandana.gif]

2.) Weather looking for being outside (fingers crossed and toes crossed) this weekend.   [smiley=daisy.gif]

3.) Had a major project cancelled this week, so feeling a bit kind of meh and not sure what's next for work.   ???

4.) Think we might have a rooster. I hope not, because that breed of chicken lays really chocolatey coloured eggs . We have one that should lay blue eggs too. And one white and one brown, so should be a nice mix.  Not close to laying age yet though, another 10-11 weeks before that happens.   [smiley=hat.gif]

5.) My house is a midden and it needs some serious sorting and cleaning.  Uggggh....   [smiley=hanged.gif]

Happy Friday! :)

KF- Fingers crossed for Sobe! That's such a lovely photo!

PB - serious question because I know NOTHING about this kind of stuff.....does the colour of the egg change the taste?

My friday 5:

1. Rik needs to fix the car like yesterday. He thought he had a genius idea to get the car MOT'd a month early so it was out of the way. It failed...what he neglected to consider was that we really can't use that car now that it's failed (failed due to handbreak so it's considered major). I have to pick my parents up at the airport on Monday!! Rik stayed up until about 1AM working on the car last night and is going to try to take it for a re-test tomorrow.  They said they could try to fix is on Saturday as well if it's still not passing (Rik thinks he's getting ripped off so won't just let them do it), so we'll see....we may need to end up renting a car as I get my parents in the morning from Heathrow and we go to Wales for 4 days in the afternoon!

2. As per the above, MY PARENTS ARE COMING ON MONDAY! :D I'm excited but also know I need to give me house a deep clean as we've slacked the last few weekends due to other commitments. On the plus side, the boxes have all been moved so the spare room is more accessible LOL Hoping we get decent weather for when they're here!

3.  Happy that today is my last full day for the next 2 weeks! Then I come back on the 8th of July and only work until the 19th of July before starting my new job. I can do this....

4.I just booked in pizza hut pizza buffet for the 19th (my last day) for lunch as it seemed only fit. Last VF Pizza friday...They keep asking me if I'll change my mind but I'm pretty firmly a "no".

5. Don't have a 5th one for this Friday so just...Pizza Friday yay! :D hah (I am too tired today to function)
My, how time flies....

x0Kiss0fDeath, no the colour doesn't change the taste. But they're cool to have sitting in a bowl on the counter in various colours  :)
Yay for the new job!! Enjoy your parents  :)

Ohmigosh, KF, the boy is so big already!  Happy end-of-diet!  I'm hoping you get good news from the vet to keep your good things going.

PB, I can't handle the amount of responsibility they would mean (especially when I'd have to go out in dreary weather), but you make me want to raise a few chickens.  But, I also want a dog but know better.  I mean... there's now way I'm diligent enough for chickens.  (I'm rather proud of myself for keeping my third attempt at a basil plant alive!)

KoD, love your double-pizza post!  Don't reconsider leaving VF... you embrace that new job!

I missed Friday Five last week (see #4... my online time is rather scarce when my husband is home*), so these things span the past two weeks.  Yay!  Half as much from each week!

1.  Last-last Saturday (8 June), we had the epic marathon of a day (get up at 5am to drive to Sussex to get the woodburner before going up to Bristol to install electrics in my FIL's workshop).  We were up for 23 hours.  But it was all worth it because we now have a big heavy cast iron woodburning stove standing in the middle of the dining room, and my FIL's workshop is now all functional and stuff.

2.  Last-last Sunday (9 June) was my husband's birthday, and I mentioned two weeks ago that I was giving him the five hottest sauces from the Hot Ones lineup.  He loved it!  I gave him some bonus sauces from a local hot sauce maker (Wiltshire Chilli Farm), and when we were waiting for a few of his Hot Ones sauces that were arriving late, he opened those up and ended up eating his Potatoes, Eggs, and ToastTM with one of them on every bite.  Yay!

3.  We've put ducting in the workshop for dust extraction.  The job isn't complete yet, but we ran a test to see how strong the vacuum was at the most extreme point, and we giggled at its effectiveness.  It's going to make air quality in the workshop so much better.  And the dust extractor is in a cupboard in a different room, so the only noise will be the sound of the air wooshing through the tubes.  :)

4.  My husband was off all last week because he traditionally takes his birthday week (and my birthday week) off.  He had a normal week this week, but after he leaves work this evening, he doesn't have to go back 'til next Thursday.  He's now trying to decide if it's harder to cope with the job if he has to just keep going every workday, five days a week, plodding along relentlessly, or if it's harder when he gets all these long breaks and then has to get back into the routine again.  He really can't decide.  But he loves his long breaks, so he's not worrying too much about the question.

5.  There is actual sunshine outside right now.  Why am I inside?!  And tomorrow shows full sun and a high of 19!  They better not be lying to me... why, I'd... I'd... I'd break down sobbing.  I miss warm sunny days.  I want summer!

* My primary aspiration is to win the lottery (or somehow receive a massive windfall) so my husband can retire.  When that happens, he'll be home all the time!  Will you guys ever see me again?  Will I finally decide he's too much of a good thing?  Will our house get finished, finally?  These are the questions I ask myself.  Still.  I buy the lottery tickets and the premium bonds.

Hello everyone! ;D

  • My new debit card arrived in the mail today. I noticed Tuesday morning that I had a pending charge from the US that was DEFINITELY not me. Called Amazon and they were great, popped into my RBS branch to cancel my card/request a new one, and phoned their fraud team to get the money refunded (luckily it was only about £30). I was very impressed by how great the customer service I received from Amazon/RBS was, it was soooo easy to get it sorted. My card was due to expire in September anyway so it was nbd.
  • As I posted a few days ago, I was offered the job at Waterstones! But am still waiting for them to email me some paperwork. I got an interview offer for another job I applied for the following morning...I couldn't buy an interview for the first few months of applying then had all this happen in 24 hours. ::) Typical!
  • Had a great time with my MIL and her dog last weekend. I actually really enjoy spending time with her and can talk more freely with her than with my own mom, who is much more guarded with her emotions and vulnerability. The weather was lovely and we ate tapas by the sea!
  • Speaking of my mom...my parents will be here next Friday! I haven't seen them since Christmas and I'm really looking forward to their visit. ;D
  • My husband's birthday was on Tuesday and we woke up at 6 so he could open his presents before work. He was able to leave work early so we went for lunch at our fav pub in town and played pool before coming home and eating caterpillar cake and watching the BBC debate (we're both political junkies). It was a really nice day. :)

1.  Awaiting the vet's call on Sobe's urine test today.  We stopped his antibiotics 3 days ago due to it just ripping his tummy to shreds.  Really hope he gets his sparkle back soon, now that we've stopped the antibiotic.  Really need to figure out how to clear this UTI so I have my boy for a lot longer.  I'm definitely fearing his mortality at the moment.  People, I've had this cat nearly half my life and I got him just after I moved out of my parents life.  He's been there for 2 marriages, a divorce, countless heartbreaks, 2 children, the introduction and loss of Copper, etc.  He's just always loved me and I've just always loved him.  I need him to stick around for like a million more years.

Sending you every good thought and wish and vibe for Sobe. x

HOLY COW PEOPLE!!!!  Sobe's UTI is COMPLETELY CLEAR!!!!!!!  I'm SHOCKED!!!!  I nearly cried when the vet told me.

We decided to give it the weekend to see if he settles now that the antibiotic is clearing from his system.  Hoping he gets his sparkle back.  If he doesn't, we will do some blood work next week just to see if anything else is up.

Keep those paws crossed for us everyone!!!  It's working!!!
