Ohmigosh, KF, the boy is so big already! Happy end-of-diet! I'm hoping you get good news from the vet to keep your good things going.
PB, I can't handle the amount of responsibility they would mean (especially when I'd have to go out in dreary weather), but you make me want to raise a few chickens. But, I also want a dog but know better. I mean... there's now way I'm diligent enough for chickens. (I'm rather proud of myself for keeping my third attempt at a basil plant alive!)
KoD, love your double-pizza post! Don't reconsider leaving VF... you embrace that new job!
I missed Friday Five last week (see #4... my online time is rather scarce when my husband is home*), so these things span the past two weeks. Yay! Half as much from each week!
1. Last-last Saturday (8 June), we had the epic marathon of a day (get up at 5am to drive to Sussex to get the woodburner before going up to Bristol to install electrics in my FIL's workshop). We were up for 23 hours. But it was all worth it because we now have a big heavy cast iron woodburning stove standing in the middle of the dining room, and my FIL's workshop is now all functional and stuff.
2. Last-last Sunday (9 June) was my husband's birthday, and I mentioned two weeks ago that I was giving him the five hottest sauces from the Hot Ones lineup. He
loved it! I gave him some bonus sauces from a local hot sauce maker (Wiltshire Chilli Farm), and when we were waiting for a few of his Hot Ones sauces that were arriving late, he opened those up and ended up eating his Potatoes, Eggs, and Toast
TM with one of them on every bite. Yay!
3. We've put ducting in the workshop for dust extraction. The job isn't complete yet, but we ran a test to see how strong the vacuum was at the most extreme point, and we giggled at its effectiveness. It's going to make air quality in the workshop so much better. And the dust extractor is in a cupboard in a different room, so the only noise will be the sound of the air wooshing through the tubes.

4. My husband was off all last week because he traditionally takes his birthday week (and my birthday week) off. He had a normal week this week, but after he leaves work this evening, he doesn't have to go back 'til next Thursday. He's now trying to decide if it's harder to cope with the job if he has to just keep going every workday, five days a week, plodding along relentlessly, or if it's harder when he gets all these long breaks and then has to get back into the routine again. He really can't decide. But he loves his long breaks, so he's not worrying too much about the question.
5. There is actual sunshine outside right now. Why am I inside?! And tomorrow shows full sun and a high of 19! They better not be lying to me... why, I'd... I'd... I'd break down sobbing. I miss warm sunny days. I want summer!
* My primary aspiration is to win the lottery (or somehow receive a massive windfall) so my husband can retire. When that happens, he'll be home
all the time! Will you guys ever see me again? Will I finally decide he's too much of a good thing? Will our house get finished, finally? These are the questions I ask myself. Still. I buy the lottery tickets and the premium bonds.
