1.  Been a strange week at work... very busy all week, until today when there was no work and i had to actually look for things to keep me occupied.

2.  We had ice cream Thursday at my work too yesterday!  Although it was the last thing on our minds... yes, it was ridiculously hot outside, but our office is ice-cold at all times, and we all wear jackets/jumpers indoors all year round.  Our boss works in a different building, and he's the one that had the ice lollies sent over to us, not realising that we were already frozen and didn't need to cool down.  Nice gesture, though.

3.  I am thoroughly in love with my hound.  He's been with me 3 weeks now and we are really bonded.  He is just so sweet and loving.

4.  No huge plans for the weekend... pub on Saturday, and Sunday probably going to the monthly walk put on by the Greyhound Trust.  I think they will be happy to see how well Jimmy Blue is doing.

5.  I'm seriously thinking of shaving my head... probably a number 2 all over. I have hated my hair for years, and it's only getting worse.  I am sick of  faffing about with it, sick of trying to tame the frizz, sick of  trying to straighten it when my efforts to tame the frizz fail, sick of paying handsome sums of money to have a professional make it a colour i like, sick of endless money trying endless products to try and keep it looking half decent, and sick of looking dragged through a hedge when the products dont perform as advertised.   Watching lots of YouTube videos on the subject and thinking... why not?
Do it! I'll never go back to long hair. I just had mine cut again on Wednesday. It is so easy to maintain.

And we need to see pics of your new wee man!

Friday. Hmmm.

1) We had pizza for lunch. With spicy chicken bits that weren't very spicy. Got back from the GP and didn't feel like slaving over a stove. Or even getting anything out of the fridge to put in the microwave. It was good.

2) We have a new hamster, Fuzz Aldrin. He is currently hiding in the bedding under his bridge and is still afraid of us. Working on that..... He is so tiny he looks like a mouse.

3) Now that the Daughter can work, I can relax about her future here. Of course, now she needs to find suitable employment, which may be more difficult than she imagined. But at least she has the option to work full-time if she can get it. She's still making noises about wanting to go back to the States for school. Thank goodness she wasn't in any of the places she's considering this week, or she'd have had a heatstroke. I think she's forgotten about the "heat is bad" thing, having lived here just long enough to have forgotten what it's like to be held hostage to the thermometer.

4) It's been so warm that my aquariums have borderline overheated. I've had to take the cover off the small one, and put the reptile mesh cover on (that I brought from the States for just these sorts of circumstances). Thankfully it looks like the heat has broken at last, so it should cool down for them. (It's about 80F in the room right now, and the small tank has been set for 74F, which is the best for the corys. The water in there is holding at about 78F, which is ok for a little while, but if the weather hadn't cooled down I'd be putting an ice pack on the lid, I think, to try to bring the temp down a bit. Just like "back home". ick. This can stop now!

5) Tomorrow is the farmer's market. Hopefully the guy who brings the big BBQ grill will be there. He sells the most amazing angus beef cheesburgers, and I've been craving one for weeks now!  It's kind of a long hike down there, but it's probably good for me to do the walking. And the burger is a heck of a good payoff!  ;D ;D   Speaking of BBQ, I sat at my kitchen window for an hour earlier this evening watching two guys try to figure out how to assemble a wannabe-kettle grill from the instructions. Two guys. One grill. Still not assembled after an hour... wow. ::)

Happy Birthday!
Happy New House (it'll go through!)
Happy Anniversary!
Congrats on owning the guitar free and clear!
You can always use a strop on your head if you shave all the hair off it. To shine it up!
Congrats on the new job!
Happy Plane Spotting! ;)
Enjoy the gluten!  ;D

Albatross, we have been patient waiting for a pup photo for three weeks now.  PRIORITIES!

We have a/c.  A pal told me I had too much money and not enough sense.  I’ve been sending him lots of photos curled up under the blankets trying to prevent frostbite.   ;D

Pizza has been ordered!  Kids are asleep. Happy mom and cat.

I did try!  but it's so awkward to try and post pics on this site!  (or at least it is for someone technologically challenged like myself!)

You've got AC too??  Wow --  your mates that said you'd more money than sense are larfing out the other side of their face just about now, with the weather you've had this week!   ;)

I do.  We just had it installed a few weeks ago.  My husband was not impressed.  But he seems to have changed his tune this week.

Love all the friday fives! I’m on my phone so I can’t respond to all of you guys easily but happy Friday!

I’ve got nothing to add but pure exhaustion this week. As part of my new job I’m managing process changes for a system migration we’re going to do and I sat through my first early hours testing ( think being in the office at three am ) but it’s fine.  Doesn’t happen often. Then I’ve been stuck in all the train fiascos this week.

I’m back home tonight and loving my bed

I’ve never been so happy that kiddo is at a sleepover tomorrow and hubby is out for a stag do. And I get to do NOTHING heheh

If is such a faff on a computer. If you can, download the Tapatalk app. It's so easy comparatively for pictures. I use my computer for easy reading and posting pics from my phone generally.

The usual. American girl meets British guy. They fall into like, then into love. Then there was the big decision. The American traveled across the pond to join the Brit. And life was never the same again.

Message me if you want my mortgage girls details.  She will only present you with mortgage options that will loan to you without ILR.  She’s free.  And if nothing else she will give you comfort that your bank is giving you the best possible rate and terms.

Thanks KF!
Hubby wants to simply stick with who were working with, which is unsurprising.

We did the actual application yesterday and are just waiting on the survey now.

Omg!!! Congrats!!! Your lack of ILR is very unlikely to be an issue (I wouldn't stress too much about it). We bought our current house (and the house we're waiting to move into) while I was on FLR(M). As long as I could prove I had a visa that would be continuing, that was all they cared about really (and it was only a minor point)

Main worry is my visa expires in October... We're applying for my ILR as soon as the house stuff is handled. I supplied my LitUK test pass certificate and an email showing I started my application. Our advisor thought that would be enough.

Yeah I wouldn't panic. You can show you've consistently had reapprovals and you're taking steps for ILR as well. While it's good to have 2 years on a Visa (for example, based solely on what I've been told when purchasing my house - so take with a pinch of salt), it's not a deal breaker. So pleased for you :)

My, how time flies....

* Married in the US and applied for first spousal visa August 2013
* Moved to the UK on said visa October 2013
* FLR(M) applied for  May 2016. Biometrics requested June 2016. Approval given July 2016.
* ILR applied for January 2019 (using priority processing). Approved February 2019.
* Citizenship applied for May  2019
* Citizenship approved on July 4th 2019
* Ceremony conducted on August 28th 2019

'Mommy, Wow! I'm a legit Brit now!'

It's just the main worry, cause we have to move ASAP, since the lease ends on Sept 24. As the advisor has spoken directly with the underwriters at the bank we should be okay, but it's that worry you have until something is approved. I am absolutely needed on the mortgage for the house to be affordable to us.
