5.  Would it be bad if I make myself a wee G&T before my guests arrive?  I could say it was quality testing...

Go for it!  :D

But, but... how much is there to say about composting?

So much! I love my compost heap!  :D You know how excited I get that seeds turn into food, well garden waste and kitchen peelings, turn into... dirt!  But it's beautiful, dark rich stuff which when put on your garden, helps your flowers grow! And it's free!  ;D

When you say "in writing", do you mean an actual physical letter sent through the post?  I used their website's online contact form to let them know how I feel.  But if you think writing a physical letter will carry more weight, I'm willing to do it.  I'm seriously sad about the egg custard tarts (though it was nice not having to get out the door super early just so I had a hope of nabbing some yesterday!).

No, I just meant online as opposed to calling them.  :)

Loads!!!

We can talk about bin composting ,hot composting, pile composing, open bin composting, worm composting, bokashi composting, composting toilets, bacteria composting, pit composting, tumbling composting, or mechanical composting

I use bin, pile, open bin, bokashi and worm composting myself.  Lots of yummy garden goodness.
And chicken poo and guinea poo make wonderful fertilisers.   ;D ;D

Oh, and go on Twitter to Aldi and complain too. That always works!

1.) Was supposed to be doing a charity cycle today, but it was cancelled due to crap weather. I'm a bit relieved, to be honest.   ;) :D

I am so familiar with that feeling of relief!  :)

Hi everyone  :) My five for this week (and last!):

1) Passed my theory test on Tuesday!! I can’t wait to be back on the road. I plan to rent a car to practice driving (since my husband has a manual) and pay for a lesson or two just to know what to do for the practical.

2) My husband proposed 2 weekends ago! 😂 We did the legal bit in the US last summer to get me over here ASAP but he always said he still wanted to actually propose to me. It was very sweet and I definitely cried. And now I have a shiny ring (that belonged to his great grandma)!

...

5) My house is slowly being consumed by all the books I’m bringing home from work. I love it but I need about 5 new bookshelves.

1. Congrats!  2. Aww, yay!  5. I was afraid this would happen!

Albatross, you and we all know you're not a terrible mum.  He's not bothered, and it can't be anything you did or didn't do, since you only recently got him.  But he's not very old, is he?  I wonder what happened.

KF, I hope your little girl's cough clears up!  It sounds you you and she both need a treat this weekend.  (Maybe you should join Albatross in some G&Ts... ;)  )

Okay, maybe I should stop giving away my food waste to the council every week... I want to turn seeds into food!

PB, how big is your garden?

Wow!  You've got a very nice garden.  I love how tidy it all looks.  It looks like quite a lot of variety, too.

I wasn't sure if I was looking at the right thing because it says stock photos but there is a beautiful coop, so I think I'm in the right place!  ;D

It's lovely, PB.  :) I'm interested that you use raised beds rather than planting at ground level. Is there a particular reason for that?

Wow! I'm envious.

My poor tomatoes are giant and loaded with unripe fruit and I have no idea what to do. I've been fertilising them with tomato feed once a week as indicated, it's sunny, they've got a steady supply of water. Any ideas on what else to try?

Thanks folks!

My husband takes photos and sells them on stock photo sites, so yeah, you're in the right place  ;D

Margo, you need pinch off the tops, so that they put their energies into ripening instead of growing.  Usually at the 4th truss or so. Also ,try and clear away the leaves around the fruit so they can get the sun.   :)

Larabee, we grow in raised beds, because you can't get a fork into the ground. We broke 2 forks trying to dig in our garden. No joke,  It's all sandy and full of huge rocks.  We have a tiny area along the side that we can dig, and that's it.

Talk to me about composting toilets.  That's what they had on the campsite last weekend.

The holes in the ground were CRAZY deep.  But some of the more popular toilets in high traffic areas were near the top by the time we left....  what will they do?  Just cover it all and dig new holes?  How long do they have to wait before digging in that same area again?

So many questions.....   ;D

And if you still have some green ones after trying PB's suggestion,  there are plenty of green tomato recipes for chutney and the like.

Let’s see if I come up with 5 today lol

1. In my second week of keto and still going strong. No keto flu yet and I feel less fatigued!

2. I’ve already lost over 6 lbs in the last two weeks. I’m fine with slow progress as long as it’s progress.

3. I’m drunk  :D

4.  We had our final appointment with the fertility specialist and I was discharged. That’s good and bad. They saw nothing they could do to treat me but also said children are a slim chance.

5. We go to Edinburgh in two weeks to see the Military Tattoo and I’m freaking pumped! It’s my present to my husband for his birthday. Premiere seats. We be fancy  :D
