Yay for Friday!!!!

1. Officially have lost a stone on my low carb diet. I need new denim!  :D
2. First full week on my own at the new job and I LOVE IT! Everyone is so lovey and I feel like I’ve been working there for ages already.
3. Lessons are struggling with the driving. Ready to be done as I have a two hour bus journey (each way) to said new job.
4. We didn’t get all of our finishing done in the living room so tomorrow...wallpaper. Pray for me
5. My mom is having to have a cardiac procedure done either next week or the week after. She’s previously had a triple bypass and now her mitral and atrial valves are occluded. It’s never ending.

Bonus: I made the most amazing slow cooked garlic lemon butter chicken thighs last night and I cannot wait to devour them.

Happy weekend everyone!

Big week this week!

1. Had Monday and Tuesday off for the landlord's to paint the house, someone had to watch the dogs and help move things for them. We had a lovely walk!

2. We had our Macmillan's World's Biggest Coffee morning today at work, it was a good time!

3. We exchanged contracts on our new house today!!! We pick up the keys on Monday!!

4. I'm having the best snuggle with my dogs right now.

5. My husband is doing better with his health the last little bit.

The usual. American girl meets British guy. They fall into like, then into love. Then there was the big decision. The American traveled across the pond to join the Brit. And life was never the same again.

Hah, I'm first today!

1) Went to Edinburgh yesterday to shop and to visit the castle. The Daughter's got access to National Trust Sites for free for her and a guest. Unfortunately, after the bus ride over and hiking up to the castle it turns out that it's not a NTS site, but a Historic Scotland site. So we didn't go in (I'm not paying £20 per person to re-visit somewhere I've already been, ever). Oopsies. It was a nice walk up the Royal Mile, though. They were filming something - had all the tourists everywhere, but when we were on our way back down the Mile they had people stopped from going in the road part and had cars zooming down the road, so the back of our heads may someday appear in some Pinewood Studios production.... The National Library has a good exhibition of historic documents on, and Holyrood has something on historic/romantic Russia but we didn't want to walk all the way down there in the limited time we had to visit. Got our shopping done, had a cup of tea and a slice of cake up in John Lewis, and got back to the bus station with 20 minutes to spare. Last Sunday we went to Mallaig and rode the Jacobite Steam train (Harry Potter) down to Ft. William. It was a really pretty trip.

2) There is a pizza slicery in Edinburgh, near the Uni, that has really nice NY style slices. Huge, and nice and bendy. And they carry all the San Pelligrinos.

3) The Daughter, after months of no responses, has offers for three job interviews in the next two weeks.  That's nice.

4) We lost one of the mid-sized corys last week.  :(   No idea what happened. The rest of them are, so far, healthy. Water parameters are good, so I drained 1/4 of the tank and replaced it with fresh water, just to be safe, after vacuuming the sand.

5) The heat has been coming on in the mornings in the last few days. Outside has been various varieties of lovely, the trees are starting to seriously drop their leaves, and I'm glad I don't have to get up and go out to work every day. It's much nicer to get up when I wake up (unfortunately still ridiculously early) and have a cup of good coffee (we're on the Hawaiian Lion Brand bag now) and look out the windows at the leaves and the world scurrying by....

Sorry about the cory, Nan.  Good luck to the Daughter on her job interviews!

My five:

1.  Not-birthday week isn't nearly as fun as birthday week.  Can you believe my husband had to go to work every day this week?  Ridiculous!

2.  I did the weekly shop on Wednesday.  Wednesday night, my husband casually dropped that it's a three-day weekend for him.  I didn't buy enough eggs, bread, or apple juice.

3.  Aldi are really letting me down lately.  They've now got rid of the cheese I buy.  I didn't tell my husband yet, because it might just be this week was botched, and I had a backup block in the fridge so didn't need to buy any.  But I'll have to tell him if it's not there next week.  Good cheese is so hard to find unless I go to Llanelli or Carmarthen.  :/

4.  My birthday gifts... money, my guitar upgrades, a recording interface thingie (I made a song!), an iguana-gator garden ornament (see photo... he's far too cute to go outside!), super spicy death pickles, five jars of Vlasic spears (at the sight of which, my husband said, "look at all that pickle juice!  We can do the chicken thing again!"*), and sooooo much joy!  Also, we chopped up a log into slices about a year ago, and it is very nearly a finished product for my sister.  See before and after pics.  It just needs the lacquer to finish curing, a final buff/polish, and off it goes.  Only 14 months in the making!

5.  My laptop is still broken, but we have confirmed that the RAM and SSD are fine.  It's a problem with power supply somewhere inside.  The battery itself seems okay, but we can't get power from the power socket to the battery, or to run the laptop directly off of the adapter.  Hopefully the fault is not on the motherboard, but that IS a possibility.  We'll spend more time on it this weekend.  My workshopping will be diminished without a computer to design on.  :(

* The chicken thing is a copycat recipe for Chick-fil-A nuggets.  He loved them.  Yay!

FRIDAY!  FRIDAY!  FRIDAY!

1.  Five year old was sick in the night.  About midnight and again 30 minutes later.  Hasn't been sick again though, so MAJOR FINGERS CROSSED on that front.

2.  Today is the 7 year anniversary of when we got engaged

3.  Tomorrow is our 7 year wedding anniversary after the big 13 hour engagement.  We have plans to go to London and see the Ceremony of the Keys.... which we booked in JUNE 2018.  Hoping we are not puking and still able to go!

4.  I didn't go to bed until 1:30am last night.  Up at 7:30.  FUN!

5.  Really hope this bug doesn't sweep the house.  Happy thoughts, prayers to any Gods, crossed fingers all very much appreciated!

If I was in the US and in your situation, I would be spraying Lysol on every surface.   Stay well, KF!  Also, happy anniversary!  I'm going to assume you'll be fine... have a great time tomorrow!

Cucumber Splash Dettol!  I keep it in my desk drawer at work, and spray as needed whenever some germy person has been near my desk..

Does it smell as nice as it sounds?  I'll look for it next shopping day.

yeah, it smells really cucumber-y and fresh, rather than medicinal/chemical.

Hi everyone! Been a few weeks since I’ve popped in but I’ve been enjoying seeing all the updates.

1) This is the first weekend in awhile that we have NOTHING on the schedule and I am so so excited. ;D All free once I’m done with work tonight!

2) I ran the 10k at the Great Scottish Run in Glasgow last Sunday. I had an absolute blast - the atmosphere was amazing and the weather was perfect. I even managed to run the entire thing without a break, which is about 2 miles further than I’d ever gone before! Woo!

3) Husband bought us a nice, barely used hoover off Facebook marketplace. I can’t wait to see if it actually works!! Our old one broke and the one that came with our flat is horrible (and I’m pretty sure older than the building 😂)

4) Only 2 weeks until my long-awaited girls weekend down in Glasgow!! One lives in Suffolk and the other in the Highlands and the three of us haven’t been in the same place for nearly 2 years. I am soooo excited to see them!!!

5) Saw Hozier last week in Glasgow (for the 3rd time) and it was an incredible show. I’m going down (again) Monday night for another concert. I really miss having decent music venues nearby...Inverness and Aberdeen are the closest but they don’t have much to offer.

I've always wanted to go see the ceremony of the keys.  Back when we were members, we did a roof top tour of Hampton Court Palace.  Nobody else was on the tour, and it was really fun.  We just walked all over, saw the fancy lead roof and looked at everything.

Nan, sounds like you had a lovely day oot in Edinburgh  [smiley=2thumbsup.gif]
JFKimberly, you made a song, very cool!!  [smiley=guitarist.gif]
KFDancer, hope you're not ill. Happy anniversaries!!!!   [smiley=clover2.gif]
elee27, well done on the 10k!!!  :o

Friday!!!

1.) Oh been a quick work week.  Not complaining. Feeling okay this week at work, funny how you get requests for job interviews and your own job suddenly feels okay. Hmmm..... But anyways, need to remember that it's not always like that either and weigh up pros and cons of jumping ship (if it's worth it).... Confused.com ???

2.) I've got a 'raspberry milkshake IPA' in the fridge that I have been looking forward to since last Sunday when I put it in there.  (I try not to drink on school nights. I don't always succeed, but I did this week).   :D

3.) Didn't end up brewing last weekend as I had to spend my day with the in-laws and BIL/SIL instead, which was super nice, but not as I planned and meant I didn't get to brew.   So. now. definitely this Sunday.  [smiley=oops.gif]

4.) I've got a 'Macmillan Coffee Morning ', tomorrow afternoon (1 week late and in the afternoon).  Looking forward to the meetup with friends, but we all have to bake for it and I HATE baking. Oh well.   :-\\\\  [smiley=anxious.gif]

5.) Needed to get an urgent appointment for an eye exam tomorrow morning. Have some strange stuff going on and want to get it all checked out.    [smiley=dizzy2.gif]
I've never gotten food on my underpants!
Work permit (2007) to British Citizen (2014)
You're stuck with me!

Eurovision? Eh? The singing competition? Trying to sort out why cars racing down the Royal Mile with tons of tourists around would fit into that...
I guess we'll see?
