FRIYAY!!!!
1. Been a really good week at work. Since travel restrictions have been lifted, we had everyone in finance around the world fly in. I've been eating non-stop with lunch (at work) and dinner out each night. But it's been so good to meet people in person!! My husband has just been so incredible with doing all the kids things this week to let me meet everyone and network as much as possible.
2. The CFO of the board of the private equity company that owns us came on Tuesday. He is SUCH a genuinely nice guy. As people would enter, he'd jump right up and shake their hands and really welcome them to the UK. He also said "I have a cold but I've did a covid test and it's negative." He then went into several meetings with small groups of people who had travelled over. After about 3 hours his daughter called him and said, "Umm, dad. That test is NOT negative". He stepped out in the hall and she sent him a photo of the test. He re-entered the room with a mask, quickly grabbed all his belongings and left. He also sent us the picture. DUDE, he obviously read it before the 15 or 30 minutes were up as the positive line was way stronger than the negative line. He feels AWFUL (not awful sick but awful about having come in). We've all been joking that this week will have been a super spreader event. But genuinely, I think everyone is quite nervous and I REALLY REALLY REALLY hope no one caught it from him and takes it home to their families around the world. I like to think I'm fine having just had it a few weeks back. But it could easily be a different variant and "here we go again".
3. Last Saturday we took the public footpath to a pub on a ford. Such gorgeous weather this past week and the pub could not have been a better way to spend the day. EVERYONE was in the garden and waiting to see if people would risk driving through the ford was the collective pub garden game. Literally everyone "ooo, is this car going to do it? Go on! Oh man, turning around". FINALLY a giant Range Rover floored it and went for it. And the markers were right - the water was definitely over 3 feet high. The water was over the hood/bonnet. But they DID make it through!!
4. We got tickets to Lapland UK for Christmas this year. Going mid-week which was half the price of the weekend. Looking forward to it already!
5. I also secured embassy appointments to renew the kids passports the first day of Easter holidays, at 7:45 in the morning so husband and I shouldn't be but an hour or two late for work. Both kids passports expire in June and we hope to travel to the USA in July and October. So I'm pleased I managed to get "unicorn" appointments. They are hard to come by - ESPECIALLY when the kids aren't in school!
How are you feeling PB? How is your husband?
