Missing the UK
« on: January 28, 2007, 04:25:59 AM »
I've gotta say, I do miss the UK....quirks and all!

Looking forward to going back there to visit for a few months, since its been nearly half a year!!

Does anyone else get this way about the UK?
If so, what are some things that you look forward to while there?

I'm a fan of the public transportation.
The pubs.
Central London.
Music fests.
and how there is so much history there, etc!

I havent been back in the UK in almost 2 years, and will be coming in March for 10 days. I miss:

My friends
WKD blue
quavers
trains/buses
endless supply of cadbury
orange tango
London and all that there is to do there
"Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things that you didn't do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover." ~Mark Twain

I went over the Christmas holidays.  Hard to believe I've been back almost a month now (and STILL haven't completely unpacked...lol)

I miss:
friends
the village pub
John Smith's Bitter
Guinness (I swear it tastes better there)
hills as far as the eyes can see
sights of sheep grazing on the hills
farmland dotted with yellow rape fields
the North Sea coast
the old architecture (good abstract photo ops)
good public transportation
the fact that I'm in another country, yet it feels like a second home of sorts
proper cups of tea
good curry dishes

Kebabs and seeing DF is what I miss the most! (mostly because I'm hungry and lonely right now  ;D)

It's so lovely there :( If my family could be there too it'd be perfect!

I miss the UK too, when I'm here in the USA. I miss being in Leeds, I miss the food ( especially pasties, and fish and chips) I miss the nightclubs and the pubs. I miss my bf the most though.

I miss the quaintness of it and the bowling alley where I messed up and almost broke the thing that puts pins down lol. I've never played normal bowling (always king pin here in new england) so I wasn't paying attention and rolled the ball and it slammed into that thing.  :-X I also miss waking up in the boyfriends bed next to him and having good tea every morning and just being there with my other half. He makes life a lot more enjoyable. Oh yes, Indian food! Chicken tikka masala *drool*

I mostly miss my boyfriend, but I also miss some English foods, I love the architecture...the old buildings just have so much character and I love the mix of architectural styles. I miss how much more relaxed people are than here. (I live in Massachusetts where everything is so fast-paced.) and I forgot!! I miss no snow in the winter and getting to hear/see birds in the winter!

???

Well like town fetes and whatnot. I'd never heard of such a thing here until I went to England. It's quaint in small towns and I loved it.  [smiley=smitten.gif] I live in a small town that's full of drug dealing teenagers at the moment, it's not the best place.
