Well like town fetes and whatnot. I'd never heard of such a thing here until I went to England. It's quaint in small towns and I loved it.  [smiley=smitten.gif] I live in a small town that's full of drug dealing teenagers at the moment, it's not the best place.

oh right, i see...
it's just the word 'quaint'... it's not very complimentary!

It isn't?  ??? Charmingly odd, especially in an old-fashioned way. That's the definion I was going by.

I did a quick survey at my work yesterday and everyone agreed with me that the word 'quaint' sounds a bit of a condescending insult, especially coming from an American.  :-\\\\   Charmingly odd?... old-fashioned?  LOL... no, that's definitely not a compliment!

I see now that you didnt mean it that way , but you might want to be careful about using the word when talking to British people.   Some wont be bothered, but some will take offence.   ;)

I miss everything from the the little old ladies walking down the street saying tata deary to just walking down to the beach with no worries at all. With every day that goes by I miss Sussex a little more...its getting to the point where I'm starting to even miss my sister-in-laws nagging ways of life & perfection and the dysfunctional ways my DH's family has about them. Most of all I think I miss watching the football games. Even though I'm going back sometime this Sept/Oct just seems so far far away :-\\\\
