I am finally here and looking to let around the Manchester area
« on: February 14, 2007, 06:29:49 PM »
I need advice on what areas not to let on the out skirts of Manchester. I am temprarily renting a room with my husband in Sheffield and we do not care too much for it due to the fact so many college kids. I came from Chico Ca, full of students and quit tired of it. Nice area though but I think for my husband the jobs opportunities would be much better around Manchester.

The other questions is: We want to let directly from an owner, what paper or internet site would assist us in finding that option. We have not established ourselves yet so letting will be tricky but we can pay in advance for several months if needed.

Thanks so much for any advice!

By the way I finally made it. (just for 6 months though) as a visitor. Need my husband to get going so I can get my family permit.

ha, if you don't like students you might not like Manchester...there's 70,000 of us here (the largest student population in Europe!) :P

But seriously there are plenty of quiet suburb-y type areas in and around Manchester- I'm sure you'll find something lovely :)

Lindyloo and I both live in a nice, leafy suburb called Didsbury.  There's a nice villagey feel to it and it's not actually that far from the city centre.  I don't know much about renting directly from the owner though.  Maybe check the papers, like Manchester Evening News online.
had a bit of a wobble.
