bridal tulle
« on: February 16, 2007, 04:45:35 PM »
Does anyone happen to know if Hobbycraft sell bridal tulle? Im guessing that they do, but I cant get them to answer their phone and its a bit of a drive out if they dont have it.

I just dont see any point in paying out £85 for a veil when I can easily make it myself for about £20-30.

You mean, like on a bolt? They should, any fabric store should have tulle on bolts. But it's  a pain to make into a veil, I made my own for my first wedding many many moons ago,,LOL. I enjoyed making it tho.

good- going near there tomorrow so I can check it out then :)

obviously buying one ready-made would be easier, but I really like doing this sort of thing. I said Id even see about making my tiara but df doesnt think I should get too involved this close to the wedding, but it seems like a lot of fun!

My mom made my veil, she says it's really easy. She's considered making some in her spare time and selling them for a little extra cash.

But I don't know about making your own tiara - I got a cheap one from a craft store - it was ready-made but it was cheap and worked well.

Im really hoping its as easy as they seem to say it is on the websites Ive found. Id love to make some in my spare time and sell them on, but of course I couldnt do that yet! ;)

Im the type that loves making things, although usually I like to give them away, but once Im allowed to work we could use the spare money!

I made my own veil. I had my hair pulled up into a loose chignon and the veil fastened underneath it. I looked at veils where I bought my dress and the cheapest one was over $100. I went to Wal-Mart and bought the tulle and a clip for it and paid around $5 for it as the tulle was on sale.  ;D

And I got all kinds of compliments on it! My friend made hers and added some small beads and ribbon around the edge - I would have never known she made it, it looked very expensive.
