We had American style pancakes tonight an Dh really liked them.  :) he said they would have been better if he had maple syrup instead of my Aunt Jemima Syrup.  ::)

The smaller, thicker pancakes that are common in the US are known as 'Scotch Pancakes' in the UK and you can buy them ready cooked in most supermarkets in the bread and cakes aisle in six packs.

The thinner English pancakes are designed to have the filling poured on them and then rolled up. Best filling by far is Tate & Lyle golden syrup, in the metal tin, not the new-fangled plastic bottle that doesn't taste right! And for God's sake don't serve bacon with them - they're a pudding!  :o

My husband has decided to fuse cultures with our pancakes...he is currently enjoying pancakes with maple syrup and double cream.

We just finished a big pile of thin, crispy pancakes with lemon and sugar - very different to what I'm used to, but very, very good! :)  I used a Delia Smith recipe that I found on the BBC website and they turned out quite nicely.  Yum!

We had thick, more American-style pancakes (not perfect, because I only had baking soda) with fried apples (butter, cinnamon, brown sugar) and custard!  Totally non-traditional, but it's one of our very favorite desserts!!

We had sweet and savory ones. Ham and cheese, two cheese (red leicester and parmesan) and nutella and fruit ones.  We spent about an hour hanging out in the kitchen making different kinds and eating them.

Pancake day will be happening again sometime soon.

I made American style pancakes yesterday and they came out brilliant! Maybe I actually found something I CAN cook!!  [smiley=chef.gif]
We did plain, choc chip and blueberry (not tinned E!).
Didnt have regular Log Cabin syrup but bought some nice maple syrup.

DH is away in the states so it was just pancakes for one.  I made some delicious Bisquick pancakes.  I wish I had chocolate chips, but they were sweet enough with the syrup, I suppose.

Not sure about lame, but I know I'd rather be eating pancakes than getting drunk. Am I old?

Am I old?

nah, it's just funny the sedate nature of eating pancakes on the same day people are living up Fat Tuesday.
