Cancelled Flight - Missed my connection to see DF

Just wanted to vent for a second - I'm sure if anyone can sympathize with me, it would be the members of this community! I was supposed to fly from Washington to Chicago, then Chicago to Manchester. The bad weather in the DC area shut down Dulles airport and I wasn't able to get to Chicago to make my flight to the UK and my fiance! Not to mention the fact that it took my Dad and me 3 1/2 hours to get to the airport because of the roads, 2 hours at the airport sorting things out and then 2 1/2 hours home again.

They rebooked me for Tuesday (nothing available tomorrow). Anyways, I'm very frustrated because the main purpose of this trip is for me and DF to find an apartment and buy furniture for when I move in April, and pretty much all of our appointments were booked for tomorrow afternoon and Tuesday!

I am happy that I didn't have to fly in the horrible weather and we'll still have 11 days together, but still, just needed to vent.....thanks for listening.

I'm so sorry. That is really awful. You and your df must be disappointed. Hopefully the weather will clear up for you by Tuesday.

I'm sorry you missed your flight.  That sounds like a nightmare.  Good luck with the apartment hunt!

I hope that you don't have any further problems with your new flight and that you're there before you know it.

Oh i would have been crushed if that had happened to us.  I'm glad you have a new flight booked and hope all goes well!

I can sympathize - DF's mother passed away in March 2005 and my original flight out of Boston was cancelled due to a freak snowstorm (it wasn't even supposed to snow that day, never mind blizzard!).  What should have been a 16 hour journey from my door to his wound up taking over 48 hours, three flights and the help of a friend of his that I'd never met who picked me up from Heathrow at midnight and put me up in his spare room overnight.  I wound up making it to the funeral with half an hour to spare!

That sucks! I'm glad you were able to get it rebooked, I hope you can reschedule your appointments too.

Thanks for all the kind words - We did get all of our appointments re-booked and the flights I am scheduled to take tomorrow left without any problems today, so I'm sure it will be fine.

Good luck! I'm glad you were able to sort out all your appointments! I almost missed my dad's wedding to my step-mom because of some domestic connections that left late. We had to fly me in to Oklahoma City and he drove all the way down there from Tulsa at midnight the night before his wedding just to come pick me up!

I've pretty much resigned myself to make sure I'm in a location at least 2 days before when it comes to stuff like that because of that trip! It was so stressful! I'm sorry you had to deal with all that!

At least you didn't get stranded in an airport somewhere. I keep seeing horror stories of people being stuck in airports for hours/days because of bad weather. It's making me a bit paranoid because on my way to London I'm connecting in Detroit and on the way back in Minneapolis and in Detroit. I'm wishing I'd just flown out of Atlanta. (but noooo....to go through the other ones was $250 cheaper  )

That sucks, I feel your pain :-/ Happened to me at christmas--missed my connecting flight IN Chicago, but I was leaving from Toledo in Ohio and that flight left too late for me to get to my Chicago connection in time... I missed it by five minutes  I got to Manchester....8 hours after scheduled because I had to rebook to London and get a connecting flight to Manchester.

At least it got rebooked.  Sucks to lose that couple of days though!!  Good luck when you get there!
