yay for House!  I saw the first episode of this season when it premiered in the States right before I moved in September, but I've been pretty much out of the loop since then.  I'll be glad to catch up.

I saw the first 2 episodes of the new season of House while we were home in September as well, I don't really remember what happened though.  ::)  :P I'm so excited I love House, Hugh Laurie totally makes that show pop. It's funny when DH showed me reruns of Jeeves & Wooster and Blackadder to see Hugh before he made it in the States, he is so different!!

house has always been one of those- i watch whenever i can.  since it's very much story line generated- been fine.

one question- hugh laurie and the female intern/resident/student person- are they together?  sometimes i think they are and sometimes i think they're not. what's the deal?

No they aren't together.  They had one date once, but nothing ever came of it.  A big part of season 3 follows one incident that House got himself in to.  Week to week the cases are different, but the story line following him is ongoing.

It begins a few episodes into the third season.  It involves David Morse (from the Green Mile among other things).  If you still want to know, PM me.
