temp NHS numbers???
« on: February 20, 2004, 03:29:39 PM »
hi... its last minute me...  ::)

i have a dentist appointment this afternoon with a NHS dentist or whatever.
i don't have a NHS number or a temp one yet.

i thought i remembered reading a post somewhere where someone explained how the temp #'s worked...
how you add some letters to your birthday or something? ???

i have been re-reading posts all morning to find this info, but haven't found it yet.

if anyone can help me (quickly!), i'd really appreciate it!

much thanx,
Angel

Hope this isn't too late....just ran upstairs to check an old payslip.  It would be TNddmmyyF....as in TN for temporary number, birth day, birth month, birth year, and F for female.

Mine also had a space and the letter A but I'm not sure if that was part of it too or just some accounting nonsense.

Hope that helps....if you need it at all!  ;D

Drats. You did mean NIN, right? I don't know what my NHS number is as my GP never sent me a card.  :-/

That is for the National Insurance Number only and is for tax purposes...nothing to do with doctor visits!

There's no such thing as temporary NHS number...you just go to the doctor and get a card in the post later.

Hope that isn't too late!

Wishstar is right - very different numbers!
