Baby Proofing Supplies (FOR PETS)
« on: March 03, 2007, 09:29:47 AM »
Can anyone help me?

I'm looking for door handle covers for the flip-down door handles.  Is there such a thing?  and where would I get one?

Thanks guys!

I haven't seen any but if they exist try a larger Boots, or Mothercare or a Tesco extra that has a baby section.

MrsPink, do you have an announcement to make or something that you're not telling us?! :)

BAHAA!!!  LOFLMAO!!

It's for the dog!!!  He can open door handles and we could keep him contained in a section of our house while we're at work, providing we can prevent him from opening the doors!!!

Please tell me you're joking and that you're not implying that cats can open child-proofed handles.  :\\\'(  My cat just learned how to escape last night.  She gets locked away from our bedroom at night because she hates it when we sleep - she throws everything off of ever horizontal surface in the house, and if that doesn't work stands on your face.

Karen - If you find the handle covers please let me know where you got them.

He he!!  The cat will be happy he's locked in somewhere!!!

I did find them on a US website and another one

but none in the UK thus far.  It may have to wait until I get to Canada this summer.  I know I've seen them.  It won't be until the summer anyway before he'll be ready to be loose, in even part of the house.

My FIL had a problem with his dog getting doors open with the pull down type handles. He ended up replacing them with door knobs.
And a bit off topic here but i really hate the pull down handles. Im always getting belt loops and handbags caught in them!

In New York in the summer, my cat used to open the fridge and then sit in front of it, using it as his personal air conditioner.

I'd come home from work and the food would be spoiled.

We ended up having to duct tape the fridge closed.

OMG! That is hysterical!!! Smart cat!!
When I was 5 years old, my mother always told me that happiness was the key to life. When I went to school, they asked me what I wanted to be when I grew up. I wrote down ‘happy’. They told me I didn’t understand the assignment, and I told them they didn’t understand life. ~ John Lennon

I was joking.  Sorry, didn't mean to freak you out. ;)

Do you work? Sorry for the noseyness, but Steven and I tried to adopt a dog at the SSPCA, but they rejected us because we were gone for seven hours a day (even though I was going to take two weeks off to help the dog adjust and we have another dog too).

We work.  He is staying in his kennel during the time the kids are at school.  He was a  stray and the shelter we got him at had much looser restrictions than the RSPCA.  He has a hard time on Monday's but otherwise he does ok.  I was coming home at lunch to walk him but it was too stressful for him because the most stressful time is when we were leaving him and to go through it twice a day was too difficult.  He did much better when we only left once a day.

When he's a more reliable, he'll have more room to roam in the house.  He basically sleeps during the day and he gets three good walks a day, every single day.

With 25 000 homeless dogs in this country, it is just not realistic for every dog to go to a home where they are only left for maximum 4 hours a day.

the people at the shelter said that why is it ok for the dogs to be cooped up in a kennel at the shelter for 23-1/2 hours but not in a kennel for 7 hours.  Our dog had been there for 4 months.  You can't tell me that we aren't giving him a good home even given the fact that we work.

My advice would be to try other private shelters - there are lots and lots out there.
