Filing Question?
« on: March 04, 2007, 04:47:00 PM »
HI all,

I'm in the UK and just getting ready to send out my tax returns (yup, all 3 years of them, haha, dont ask)

just curious on a personal level - where did you file your taxes? Did you send it to the US address in Austin, TX or did you send yours to London?

I wasn't really sure if one was better than the other for getting the info done in a timely manner.

Also, do you think if I enclosed copies and a prepaid envelope they will mail me back my copies stamped or with transcripts so I have receipt of them receiving them?

Thanks :)

They would need to go to Austin.  However, I think you are able to file with the
IRS at the London Consulate in person, but I' not 100% sure of that.  Make copies for your own records of all your paperwork & good luck to you!

You can send them to London or Austin.  Choose whichever is most convenient for you.  I usually send to London by Special Delivery.

If you include a cover letter listing all the forms enclosed and a prepaid envelope, they will stamp it as received and send the letter back to you.  You needn't send full copies of your returns.
