I eat them. I don't love them, but I like them. And yes, UK baked beans are a completely different animal to US baked beans.

I won't touch the Branston ones though. I loathe Branston pickle so can't see how I'd like it in beans.

Yesterday for lunch we had beans on toast (one slice) and cheese on toast (another slice)!

Do you mean the Branston beans contain pickle? That sounds a little odd if so.

No, they're just beans in tomato sauce...the sauce is just a bit thicker and tastes a bit nicer than Heinz. They're just Branston brand, but no pickle, I promise!

Branston baked beans don't have Branston pickle in they are just made by the same company. trust me I don't like Branston Pickle either! if there was Branston pickle in the baked beans I wouldn't go near the Branston baked beans.

Oh, well, that's good to know! But if they are sweeter, not sure I'd like that. Might have to try them though!

Ok well I haven't had beans on toast for eons and I have been wondering about those Branston beans ... I'm not sure why they'd bother taking on Heinz ... but I'm about to go to the supermarket anyway so I think I'm going to have to get some for lunch today!  Hopefully they will go down well with Mr 2 Year Old too.  ;D

My DS (4) loves this.  It's my easy tea with sausages.  I agree, that if I am going to eat it, I w ant cheese on it as well!  BTW, I've used Heinz and turned them into baked beans and they turn out pretty well.

We had the branston beans on toast for lunch. They were nice but it's a long time since I had Heinz beans so I couldn't say what trhe difference is.  However, Ethan was not impressed, ate 2 mouthfuls and threw his fork down in disgust!

I like beans on toast with butter. But in my opinion all baked beans taste exactly the same. I think it's one of those psoychological things where you think it's better quality because of the label and name, when it's really the same thing. I could never tell the difference between smartprice and Heinz or whoever.

Hey. I haven't had that. I'll have to ask my DH why he hasn't introduced me to that particular British delicacy. After all, we've had cheese on toast.  :)

I actually stared open mouthed the first time I saw DH (or DB at the time) but beans on toast......
I was even more shocked when I found out it wasn't just him, it was his whole country!!

And then I tried it - and have never questioned the concept since.  I LOVE beans on toast!

When we were doing the LDR, every visit DH would bring me as many cans of Heinz as he could wedge in between the Cadbury bars....  They searched his bag once and he said they laughed for 10 minutes when they saw cans upon cans of baked beans amongst his undies...

the things we do for love  :) :)
And I'm thinkin' if you were mine,
I'd never let you go,
And that would be just beautiful I know
Beautiful to take a chance,
And if you fall, you fall
And I'm thinkin'
I wouldn't mind at all . . . (Billie Holiday)

Last week, while in the UK, I had a new experience with beans.  Beans in a jacket potato.  At first, I thought, this is strange, but, as not to offend DB's mother, I tucked in.  It was really, really good!  Protein and carbs without the meat.  Loved it!  But, before I could finish, his cheeky dog snatched the other half of the potato off my plate!
I am the architect of my destiny.

Beans in a jacket potato with grated cheddar cheese on top beats beans on toast most days.
