Beans on toast is awesome!  Add some bacon and scrambled eggs and I'm in heaven!

Beans in a jacket potato with grated cheddar cheese on top beats beans on toast most days.

Ooo, with cheddar?  I think this is going to be dinner tonight.  Especially since I can get English baked beans in our "international" section at the store.

I was hoping I wasnt the only 1 who was thinking this, I like beans on a baked potato with cheese. as a matter of fact that's what I had for lunch today but it was reduced fat cheese & Branston baked beans.  ;D   [smiley=2thumbsup.gif]

it's not for me. But that's because I really, really hate baked beans- always have.

Me too, I have to say. I don't even like to look at them...weird I know.  :P

I like them occasionally but i always have to cook them in a pan and put in a bit of butter or some cheese,  on the the rare occasion of a fry up I'll use the same pan from the bacon and eggs minus nearly all of the oil. I do like the combination of beans and a runny egg yolk :)

I thought i was conned by the branston beans as they seemed to be just re-branded crosse & blackwell beans, i could be wrong though.

They are the same company, whether they're the same beans I don't know.

I put a bit of grated cheese between the toast and the beans. The heat from the beans makes the cheese all gooey and melty! It's my favourite camping food.

I tried the Branston beans with breakfast (fried bread, not toast  :o ) this past weekend.  I did prefer them to Heinz, they seemed less watery.  Even if they weren't nicer, they were still pretty darn good.

ick.  I love both but can't stand beans on toast. I'd take beans and cheese on a jacket potato over beans on toast anytime.

I am really glad someone else who thinks the same way as me.   ;D  [smiley=2thumbsup.gif]

I thought it was odd the first time I saw DF do it, but I'm hooked now.  I totally agree that English and American baked beans are completely different...but I eat it in both countries, then have to get used to the other baked beans again depending on the country I'm in!

I like baked beans, though...better than those nasty mushy peas!  I still can't put those on anything!!  Curry or maybe beans with my fish, thanks!

Shugga, I'm with you on this!! I think it's horrible! It's not a good combination at all and tastes awful, but my brit hubby loves it and eats it rather often, so there I am, heating up beans and popping bread into the toaster...the smell of it even makes me want to gag....it's just not a good thing!! [smiley=dizzy2.gif]

BTW, English baked beans are more like our Pork'n'Beans than the baked beans...and a Brit on my other forum asked some time ago why their beans are even called baked beans and said 'it must've been named by an american', then I went on to explain that our beans ARE baked and that these ones are nothing more than pork'n'beans without the chunks of pork!

Add some brown sugar, a squirt of mustard, a bit of onion, etc, and pop them into the oven for a bit... ;)
