Has anybody seen them anywhere in the Greater London area (Zones 1-4)?

Which one, or is it a generic thing?  We have a South African shop of some sort out here in Morden, but I haven't been into it yet.

I gave up on the search for Fritos. Like everyone else has said I have seen some in South African shops but they are all flavoured.  I would so like to make a Frito pie some day!

well, other people might do it differently but mine comes back from my girl scout days when it was simply browned hamburger, add a bit of shredded cheese and a then some fritos to throw it all together. It was quick and easy

Marks and Spencers carried Corn Chips for awhile, but I have not looked for them in about 6 months or so...

Now I do a variation on the Frito pie, called a taco pie.  Put the taco seasoning in with the ground beef, layer it on the Fritos, grate the cheese, toss in some black olives and salsa on top of that, mmmmmm.

That sounds like a recipe i wrote down the other day, but it used tortilla chips broken up over the top instead of fritos.  I think I'd probably like fritos on top better.

OK, I'm so not a fan of Frito Pie on any level, but in my day it was always done right in the Frito bag. You split it open down the middle, add the hamburger to it, and that's it. Blech!

No, no, no!  That's BAD Frito Pie.  Not to mention wrong!  Real Frito Pie is Fritos smothered in chili, then cheese.  That's GOOD Frito pie.

Even Wikipedia agrees.

Whoever tried to pass that other stuff off should be smacked upside the head. ;)

That's what I said!!

"the dish was not baked but traditionally an individual-size bag of Fritos was split open and hot chili poured over the chips, along with grated cheese and (often) chopped onions."

Right in the bag. I don't know what the crap was that was put on top of it 'cause I never touched the stuff. But it was always right in the Fritos bag. I think that was Wednesday (and possibly Tuesday and Friday as well) lunch at my school. I brought soup.

Yep,must admit that even in my girl scout days we never did it in the bag.  We never used chili either. It was done in a pan over the fire.  I think it might come from the fact we were supposed to be doing things rather simply as girl scouts - you know, learning survival techniques.  :) The idea of doing it in the bag actually kind of sickens me for some reason.  lol
