Hmm... my Girl Scout experience was obviously lacking.  All we ever ate at camp-outs was hot dogs!  Of course, that could have just been laziness on our troop leaders' part.

I also agree that in the bag sounds icky.  But in a bowl... mmm.

Oh!  This thread reminds me of one of my favorite combos as a kid - peanut butter and jelly sandwich with Fritos inside.  Salty, sweet and crunchy.  Yum.

I don't know. I'm not sold on that one. I don't even really like Fritos, but I looooove them crunched up in a tuna salad pita sammidge.

Bag, bowl... who cares?!  ;D
I LOVE Frito pie, but it has to be properly made with chilli, not just mince.   :-\\\\

Grrrr... I knew I shouldn't have read this thread... hormel chili with beans over fritos with sharp cheddar cheese...

YUM!

It would probably taste too salty now, but the idea of it is making me drool!
When I was 5 years old, my mother always told me that happiness was the key to life. When I went to school, they asked me what I wanted to be when I grew up. I wrote down ‘happy’. They told me I didn’t understand the assignment, and I told them they didn’t understand life. ~ John Lennon

Ooh, that sounds GOOD.  If only I could have tuna. :(

I love salty things, but Fritos are disgustingly salty and they give you the worst breath!  My lips puff up when I eat things that are too salty, and Fritos have definitely done that to me before.

Ok, you guys, got me going nuts for Fritos.....so desperate in fact, I googled and got this.

1/2 cup yellow cornmeal
1/2 teaspoon salt
3/4 cup boiling water
1 cup boiling water
1 teaspoon butter OR margarine

1.Preheat oven to 450*F (230*C).
2.Combine cornmeal, salt and any other spices in a mixing bowl.
3.Pour in 1 cup of boiling water and stir.
4.Add butter and stir until melted.
5.Add remaining 3/4 cup boiling water, while stirring constantly.
6.Drop mixture by heaping teaspoonfuls onto a well-greased baking sheet and bake for 12 to 15 minutes or until golden brown.

Now, keep in mind, I haven't had regular fritos in a long time, but these are pretty darn good!! Remind me totally of the taste of fritos!! Getting ready to put second batch in the oven right now. However, although the recipe says to drop by heaping spoonful, I spread them out so they would be thinner.......and get real crunchy.

Son's allergic to fish so I can't have it in the house.  HUGE bummer as I'm a big fishy fan.

Marks and Spencers carried Corn Chips for awhile, but I have not looked for them in about 6 months or so...

I just checked today.. and they are still carrying them... but they are cheese and  jalapeno flavor.. still might work for that Frito pie okay.  They are even on offer 3 for 2 at a high £1.19 for one.  In our M&S they are right above the Corn Tortillas and Crisps...
