How do I revoke 'Married filing jointly'?

Do I just attach a statement on my return with my full name, spouse's full name and our SS numbers saying I revoke it?

If you jointly elected under IR Code Section 6013(g) or 6013(h) in the past then you are correct as to how you revoke that election.

If you did not elect because your spouse was a resident alien (when no election would have been needed) then there is nothing to revoke.

We elected it when he moved to the States. I just wanted to make sure no form was required sine the IRS seems to want a form for everything. Thanks Guya.
