Help! Need wedding music
« on: March 19, 2007, 11:30:01 AM »
Calling out to all Uk-Yankee members.
We decided that since we are having such a small wedding we will provide the music.
In other words, play dj.
Can anyone recommend some wedding songs?
Some songs that will suit the oldies just as much as the young uns.
Love songs for wedding dance....
Dancing songs....
Happy songs.....
Any songs that you enjoyed dancing to at your wedding..
Thanks everyone for the help!!

Here are a few...

Never my love ~ The  Association
God only knows ~ The Beach Boys
Wouldn't it be nice ~ The Beach Boys
Here, there and everywhere ~ The Beatles
Fix you ~ Coldplay
Put your records on ~ Corinne Bailey Rae
Thank you ~ Dido
Wonderful Tonight ~ Eric Clapton
Wonderful World ~ Louis Armstrong
100 Years ~ Five for Fighting
Bus Stop ~ The Hollies
Better Together ~ Jack Johnson
Woman ~ John Lennon
City Love ~ John Mayer
Just Like Heaven ~ Katie Melua
Sunday Morninng ~ Maroon 5
Be without you ~ Mary J Blige
These arms of mine ~ Otis Redding
I've been loving you too long ~ Otis Redding
Maybe I'm Amazed ~ Paul McCartney
Every Little thing she does ~ The Police
Mi Amore ~ Stevie Wonder
Wild Horses ~ The Sundays version
At Last ~ Etta James
Time of the season ~ The Zombies
The sweetest thing ~ U2
Something ~ The Beatles
You belong to me ~ Jason Wade

This was just from going through my itunes library.  Most of these are romantic and some are good for slow songs. Alot of these are available on Itunes, but the Beatles ones will not be.  If you're looking for some older music, old motown usually goes over really well and is great to dance to.

walk up for my dad & me: "bass trap" by U2 (b-side from '84-'85)

first dance: "into the mystic" by van morrison

parents' dance: "teach your children well" by crosby, stills & nash

bridal party dance: "best friend" by queen

song for the anniversary game dance: "when i'm 64" by the beatles

last dance, with all guests in circle on floor: "all you need is love" by the beatles

it was all wicked good :)

Our first dance was supposed to be Cant Fight This Feeling by REO Speedwagon but the DJ said he didnt know that was the song we wanted.  ::)   so we danced instead to If Your Not The One by Daniel Bedingfield.  [smiley=love.gif]

Hey, my Noni is credited with introducing the Chicken dance to North America!

So, now you know who to blame...

Our first dance was to "You're the one that I want" by The Beautiful South.  It's a lovely slowed down version of the Grease classic.
