I spoke to a friend of mine last night who has one and she really loves it. She also has a VERY nervous, timid cat who still uses it, so it must not be much of an issue. My cats were a bit afraid of it at first (one of them was an older cat and he was pretty set in his ways with his old box), but they got used to it after a little while. Good luck!

We never ended up getting a self cleaning litter box, but I would say it will probably be more of a possibility this year or next.
