They were never ending!  I swear some of them were like 8 to 10 packs!

Gerald Butler from Phantom of the Opera is the lead, I think...

I want to see it, as it looks like something I'd like...but it has been getting horrible reviews.

Oh well. Some of my favorite movies got horrible reviews, and some I detest have excellent reviews.

ETA: 1000 posts, whoo!

Let's take our wigs off in the shopi aisle and fight it out.

He is, and the hispanic guy from Lost is also a lead (he plays a 7 ft. Persian leader..?!?!)

Exactly why I think I might go see it as well.

Congrats ;)

I saw it last weekend with a few friends and really liked it! Except I'm squeamish about nudity/sex scenes, so I let one of the others in our party who'd already seen it let me know when to employ my eyelids.

I don't know anything about the guy who plays King Leonidas, but the whole time I was going "That's a Scottish brogue. I just know it." And it was! Lovely.

That's been one of the main criticisms - the English/Scottish/Aussie accents... for Spartans and Persians.
I don't think under the circumstances it would bother me at all; I mean, sometimes, ya gotta just suspend belief.  And it might be more difficult to understand if they all had Greek and Persian accents!

I loved this movie, but, I also LOVE warrior epics.  Love bloody battle scenes and such.  It is the historian (and tom-boy) in me.  Of course, all the wonderful man-candy really didn't hurt a damn thing!  I told DF that he needs a red cape and Spartan helmet now (he told me not a chance, but, hey, a girl can try!  ;))

It also was very accurate to the Frank Miller graphic novel.  And it is based on actual historical events, as well. The story of the actual 300 is legendary and a big part of Greek history.

And yes, with accents, you have to suspend disbelief.  How many films have you seen where all the characters are French but their accents are British?

Liam Nesson Les Miserables anyone?

I actually love that movie, but whywhywhy do all of the lead actors (mostly non-English) have fake English accents?

I have NEVER understood that!  Seems so silly, but, maybe it is an attempt to make everyone sound the same instead of having 20 different accents when all the characters are basically from the same place.

Sean Connery in Highlander.  Or The Hunt for Red October, for that matter. ;)
