What's your very favourite spot in the UK?
« on: April 05, 2007, 02:17:38 PM »
Mine would have to be Hay-on-Wye. First of all, obviously, because of the amazing second-hand bookshops. But the other shopping there is pretty good, too - some great dress and shoe shops and a fantastic little antiques centre. And it's out in the gorgeous countryside, right on the Wye, with gently rolling green hills all around. The camping is great. And ... the FESTIVAL!! Wheee!

Well.... I have a soft spot for the vibrancy and beauty of London but the frenetic pace means that I can only take it in small doses. So my vote would be for the Cotswolds. Absolutely gorgeous. I've heard the New Forest is fab with all the ponies running around but I haven't been there yet.

To be honest, right now it's where I live.  The view from my bedroom window is amazing. ;D

I love Mumbles in Wales, it's so pretty, lovely beach, and great laid back kind of vibe.

Tenby Beach

Hey! That's where I live! Well ... 5 miles from there. When were you in Tenby?

I've been quite a few times-not recently though. I think the last time was five or six years ago.  We stayed in that big hotel overlooking the beach for our official honeymoon.  It makes it really special to us.  :)

I've been trying to pick one, but I can't!

-St. Ives for sentimental reasons
-Not one spot, but the drive from Ft. William to Mallaig in Scotland is amazing!
-Where my in-laws live in rural Worcestershire (just north of the Cotswolds)...will be going there this weekend!
-Regents Park

Tough call, but I would say the Peak District. Here are a couple reasons why:

Gorgeous pics!

Thanks :-) Perhaps I should also mention Bradgate Country Park, which is closer to my home, in Leicester:

The rolling hills of Northumberland, the seaside village of Seahouses and the beaches and Bamburgh Castle.

I wish I was there now.

oh, chary, I love Hay-on-Wye and I have really fond memories of my trip there two years ago (man, I can't believe it's been two years!  I must go back soon.)

Other places I love-

* The Peak District

* Sheffield (I studied abroad here and really settled in...Sheffield is "home" to me here in the UK.  I can't wait to move back in July.)

* Inverness & Loch Ness

* Hyde Park
