Wot, you mean Easterhouse?  Wester Hailes?  Forth?  Larkhall?  Pilton?  Parkhead?  Greenock?
Believe me... there are plenty of shite places in Scotland!  ;)
I'm very grateful i dont live in one of them, considering that in my early days here, i lived in a junkies den in Milton!  (i wasn't a junkie, but i was very naive...)  :-\\\\

Um...okay....nevermind then. Fortunately, I've never been to any of those places and the beauty of Scotland is there are loads of other options so you don't HAVE to go to one of those places. Geez....I didn't think I'd have to defend Scotland to you, of all people!  ;)

I really haven't travelled much around the UK but I LOVE Devon!  We spend two weeks in Buckfastleigh almost two years ago and absolutely loved it.  Loved Dartmoor National Park, the ponies, the stone circles, everything.  I can't wait to go back.

Geez... im just saying that not all of Scotland is Brigadoon, as many Americans seem to think!
If that doesnt apply to you, then great!  ;D

>LOL<   [smiley=laugh4.gif]

I keep telling you guys... for a good laugh, check out Scotland.com
It's full of the Brigadoon brigade, droning on about how there is a 'burning in their heart and it is calling them to Scotland, and how they cant wait to go and live there, to find their Braveheart amongst the misty glens...'   ::)
When you ask if they have ever visited Scotland, the answer is invariably 'no'.

Anyway, sorry for the hijack, and sorry to Bmore 2 UK if i have offended in any way.  It's the kind of thing i would say in normal face-to-face conversation and you'd have understood by my facial expression and tone of voice, which unfortunately doesnt convey online.  Sorry.  :)

Mine would have to be Hay-on-Wye. First of all, obviously, because of the amazing second-hand bookshops. But the other shopping there is pretty good, too - some great dress and shoe shops and a fantastic little antiques centre. And it's out in the gorgeous countryside, right on the Wye, with gently rolling green hills all around. The camping is great. And ... the FESTIVAL!! Wheee!

My husband and I drove out there on Sunday to get away from the in-laws for a bit. What a lovely place. Afterwards, we went for a drive in the Brecon Beacons. Absolutely gorgeous.
