Life on Mars
« on: April 11, 2007, 03:41:23 PM »
Have any of you guys been watching this?  It ended last night, and has got to be one of the best things the BBC have ever made.

If you haven't seen it, think Quantum Leap meets The Sweeney (slightly cheesy '70's detective show).  Doctor Who fans will love it!

So sad they have only made two series, but such a dramatic ending!

I'm watching it, but have had to record it and am catching up on it.  I love it, but haven't seen the end yet!  I didn't think I'd like it when dh first suggested watching it, but now I can never wait to watch it when we find the time.  I'm really sad they only made two seasons as well.

Oh I so love this show!  We recorded it as well last night. (We actually went out)  I can't wait to watch.

I'm really glad you all liked how it ended.

My husband mentioned that he read an article a few weeks ago  when he was in the US that they are developing the concept for the US.  If that is so, I can't wait and I hope they don't muck it up.

David E. Kelley is a co-writer, so I'd think it'd be pretty da*n good if not brilliant.
Hollywood, CA -> London, UK 2004
London, UK -> Long Beach, CA 2007

Seriously?  I can't wait to see it.  Can't imagine the grittiness though. It could be interesting to see what he does with the concept.

DH told me that they were going to do an 80's version.  I'm interested to see how it will compare!  :)

The US version sounds interesting....

It seems to me, they do better just buying the shows outright. Rather than remaking them, that is. They never seem to turn out. I won't watch the remakes any more. Always end up sorely dissapointed.

I don't care for the US version (they are showing it here, but I can't remember which channel).  Oddly, my British husband loves it.

They seem to be combining some of the plots from the two series and a bit of Ashes to Ashes series two.  The dynamics between the characters are a bit different, and Sam has a very different persona.  Personally, I think the acting in the British one is so much better.

I agree that most of the time British shows would be better just being rebroadcast.  But then we wouldn't get things like the US version of The Office.
