I miss him so dreadfully
« on: April 13, 2007, 08:22:02 AM »
I don't know what in the world is up with me lately, by I miss my boyfriend dreadfully. This is the longest we've ever been away from each other. I miss being in England with his family & our friends. I am missing out on his little boy growing up. I'm trying to fly back out in the end of may, but I noticed that the fares are more pricey near summer. I can't be the only one going through this right now. Would love to hear from anyone.

I know how you feel...it's hard being away. Especially when you're so close to the family and friends too. You don't have very long to wait though...it'll be in no time! Start a countdown if you don't already have one! It'll go by so fast...

Summer flights are the most expensive ones of the year.  Fall, winter, and early spring are the cheapest (excluding holiday periods).  You've got my sympathy - I went through the same thing for 2 years before we got married.  Separation sucks.
I refuse to answer that question on the grounds that I don't know the answer.

Yes, incredibly expensive - but Virgin was doing a sale recently - you should check out the site.  And there's always the cheap Zoom flights.

I know it's incredibly hard (we did about 14 months), but it will end!!!  Good luck!

I was in just the same spot (well, still am technically).  It is tough, but, you work through it.  I find that if I stay busy, it doesn't bother me as much.  But, there are still those days that it will hit you like a ton of bricks for no reason.

((((((HUGS))))))) for you.  Hope you are able to find a time to go see him!  PM if you need a vent.  :D

Don't worry -- just stay busy ... it's better if you have things to do and things to "distract" you because it makes time drag less.  If you find yourself brooding too much, pick up a hobby, or find some supportive friends and hang out! :)  I've been in a LDR for nearly 4 years, so I've found all sorts of things to keep me busy (when college isn't enough  :P) so PM if you wish :)

I know how you feel. I've been apart from my boyfriend for over a year now. I found cheaper flights on yahoo travel. You might try that. Good luck!

If you can get a decent phone rate and talk to him on some IM service, at least it'll ease the longing a bit.

Cheap phone service?  How about free?  Download Skype at http://www.skype.com, have him download Skype, get a cheapo web cam if you don't have one in your computer, get a cheap headset with mic, and you can easily talk, see each other, chat, whatever you like, all for free.

(((((((((((((((((((( hugs ))))))))))))))))))) I know just how it is, its so hard for me to be away from my bf too :(  and I also miss his family, especially his nieces and nephews.

Counting down the days till you see each other again helps me too, it feels good every day to mark one more day off the calendar and to know that each day brings you one day closer to seeing him again.

I know that flights can be more expensive during the summer months, I'm trying to book a flight for the end of August and I'm having the same issue. But if you book way ahead of time, and if you watch the prices for awhile they do tend to fluctuate.

My bf and I talk on MSN messenger with webcams and headsets, its a lot cheaper than by phone, and with the cams we can also see each other.

I have trouble with the ticket prices as well, I found though that expedia seems to have the best rates. HOWEVER!!!!! I looked up prices for Mark coming here in June and a non-stop flight is $1172

Wanna know an interesting twist? if you go to http://www.expedia.co.uk/default.aspx its the expedia UK version. His ticket is 387 pounds. Which is like 7-800 buck in America.

Funny how they get cheaper rates in the summer than us Americans do  ;)

A lot of my friends are dumping Vonage -- Skype is free, and you have video capability for free -- it means a lot for me to be able to see my guy.  For someone who is moving around the world, I personally think it's the best option.  Vonage is not free, and there are some problems with replacing your phone line with it -- 911, no fax capabilities, or whatever.  I actually have Vonage at the moment.  I talk to the UK on Skype anyway.
