Found a Real Mexican food restaurant in England
« on: April 19, 2007, 12:55:53 PM »
I was visiting a friend over the Easter holiday and she told me she had found a mexican food restaurant in the Bury St Edmund (Cambridge/Ely) area.  I didn't believe it - so we went there to eat one evening.  It was EXCELLENT!  The owners are a "mixed couple" - she is a brit and he is from Mexico - so he taught her how to cook the real mexican style food.  It's called Checquers (is part pub and part mexican restaurant).  Telephone number is 01638-532478 and email: chanandgiddy@aol.com   You need reservations at almost all times.  They are open for lunch Tuesday thru Friday (12-2) and open for dinner Tuesday through Saturday(6 - 9). Closed on Sundays and Mondays. Live music most evenings too.   It is actually located in the town of Eriswell near Lakenheath military base.  It's worth the drive for anyone craving good mexican food in England!!  :)  but make sure and call ahead for a reservation!
