Jennifer Government

I've just finished this book and loooved it.

It's Brave New World meets McDonalds. It takes place in the near future where the the world is run by giant corporations and employees take the last names of the companies they work for. Globalisation at it's best!

I got it because of this recommendation:

Quote
I picked this book up on a whim to pass some time while travelling and became instantly hooked. Set in a fictious future where major corporations (e.g. Nike, Microsoft) rule the US (which includes the UK and Australia) and where money can buy anything/everything, the book introduces the reader to several characters (whose surnames are the companys they work for, e.g. John Nike, Jennifer Government) and gets you gripped with funny edge of your seat action.

I've given the book the full 5 out of 5 and recommend it too everyone, include those not really into futuristic, business or just general books - its a must read.

Before you read the book ask yourself "How far would a company go to sell that dream product?".

If you run across it I highly recommend it.

I bought this last week and plan on starting it in the next few days.  Can't wait!

Let me know what you think of it. I thought it was a brilliant story.

I totally agree. I got this book at a book exchange in a coffeeshop. It was one of the best boks I've read in a while.  I had to go and re-read 'No Logo' to balance it out. Seriously good.

Finally got to it!  And read it in about 4-1/2 hours over 2 nights!  I really couldn't put it down.  It was so interesting.  Very well written - not too deep but not completely superficial either.  I was well impressed with it.  It made a lot of points without ramming them down your throat - and the "love story" in it was even bearable.  :-*

I would love to see this made into a movie - I think it could easily be done and kept completely faithful to the book, honestly.  And that's from someone who HATES movie adaptations of books!  ;D
