I love that the British men want real women instead of the hyped up version that's been Photoshoped to death. I know the media doesn't seem to protray it that way, but in real life, they seem to want and expect a human being and revel in a woman's well... womanlyness.(Is that a word?)
I will never have to worry about my lumps and bumps. Nor my likes or dislikes being not good enough.  I like being loved for being authentic and happily leave Photoshop women to the American men.
Courage doesn't always roar. Sometimes it is the quiet voice at the end of the day saying:

The quote thingy wasn't working, so I did my own. Anyway - you couldn't have summed it up better. It is so TRUE. I feel the exact same way about my brit bf. He totally accepts me for me and loves my body the way it is and my mind for what it has to say. He is a true gem :) And I have to say for all the stuff out in the media, the men there seem to know it's fake and even though they oggle, they don't genuinely chase after it.
Sometimes I feel like an alien in my own country

I especially enjoy the little old man in a cap and braces (suspenders) with a moth-eaten tweed jacket, sitting in the corner of a pub with a pint in front of him and a toothless smile for everyone.

You forgot the smelly fag, belinda  ;D!

You are so right! In the US I always felt I had to look "perfect" for my BFs -- manicured, pedicured, shaved, waxed, full makeup, hair done, etc. Ugh. It's so nice to have someone now he thinks I look beautiful with no makeup on and who tells me he loves my squishy tummy.

*sigh*  I hope I can still look forward to that!

And I come from L.A., and the entertainment industry, so I certainly know about having to look a certain way!

I'm still getting used to it myself.  Simon thinks I'm the most sexy, beautiful woman in the world.  I tell him he's crazy, but I don't fight it! :)  I had an ex who was/is obsessed with the appearance of the woman on his arm.  I had not spoken to him in a couple years when he called to tell me last year that he had to put our dog to sleep.  Somehow, in this conversation, he managed to fit in that his wife is a size 5.  ::)  Simon on the other hand is so happy to be with me and my curves.  I just totally love it!!!

Ditto!! .. I also come from L.A. ..and  it's not even the men whose attention you are competing for.. it's the competitive women and  how you are perceived if you DON'T  look a certain way  and done up"..    and this is from people I love!!  UUGHH! what a difference when here if you get done up you can feel freakish in a bad way! LOL..

I NEVER thought i'd feel comfortable going out  as just plain jane me  and  feeling sexy when I would have  felt   'fat'  in the past..   DH also likes  the curves.. the curvier the better!!   (weirdo..but not really)  ;D :D :P

I'll desperately miss:

English TV.
Little old men in tweed coats riding their bikes along the street.
Narrow boats on the canal.
London.
Lush cosmetics shop.
Watching little kids in cute English school uniforms file along the sidewalk to school.
The cathedrals.
The museums.
Market Day.
The slower pace of life.
Being so unique in my neighborhood.
Proper english breakfasts.
Political flexibility.
The Guardian!!!
Being surrounded by gorgeous, varied accents.
Sunday roasts.
Pubs.
Strong, local beers.
Women in hats at weddings.
Non old-lady Bingo.
The countryside.
Sunsets over the Fens.
Little pheasants running all around the fields.
Ancient houses all over the place.
Preserved historical buildings.
Pub quizzes.
Christmas carol services in a church older than my country.
Gargoyles.
Flowers blooming in winter.
Charity shops.
English Maternity care.
Documentaries galor on TV.
BBC Radio 4.
Good public transportation.
Closeness to Europe.
The cool antique shops.
Having a different perspective on US goings-on.
Greener greens than I've ever seen before.
Green in the winter, too.
Ghost walks & stories in local pubs, houses, etc.
The friendly relationship between mainstream medicine and non-traditional medicine.
The dressier type of clothing available.

There's millions more, but that's just off the top of my head...

I simply adore this list,  I reference it everytime I waiver in my decision to come to the UK :)

But never fear, gentlemen; castration was really not the point of feminism, and we women are too busy eviscerating one another to take you on.
